Abstract: A method and system for maintenance of network devices in a datacenter, involving a Network Upgrade Tool coupled to a CMDB, a Rules DB, an upgrade Path DB and a Network Configurator. The Network Upgrade Tool is configured to collect/fetch information from network devices, remove from automated maintenance those non-conforming network devices, cluster the remaining network devices in groups of redundant network devices, and for all such groups, successively upgrade the network operating system of the network devices present in the group.

Abstract: A method and a system for deploying in a datacenter connected to a network a networking apparatus equipped with Auto Provisioning Mode capability, and having an installed version of operating system and associated packages. The method comprises the steps of: a- defining a targeted version of operating system and associated packages qualified for the datacenter; b- maintaining a range of available and supported operating system versions, including the targeted version of operating system, and associated packages; c- connecting to the network, and powering-on the networking apparatus; and d- comparing the version of operating system installed on the networking apparatus with the targeted version of the operating system.
