Publication number: 20240098640Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques generally provide for modifying a bit rate of a real-time stream at a station (STA). The STA may determine an average wake duration within an interval for communications with an access point (AP), and may compare the average to a target active duration for efficient power usage. In some other cases, the STA may learn a scheduling pattern of the AP, and may reduce the bitrate to eliminate the need for a portion of the wake duration having relatively lower data transmissions. Modifying the bit rate may support adjusting the active duration of the STA to be closer to the target active duration while maintaining a similar quality of the real-time stream (such as, a lossless stream).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Gopinath Patra, Richard Turner, Laurent Wojcieszak, Srikant Kuppa, Mayank Batra

Publication number: 20240097824Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for techniques for dynamically adjusting retransmission opportunities within a connected isochronous stream (CIS) are described. In some aspects, a first wireless device and a second wireless device may support one or more dynamic or “on-the-fly” adjustments to one or more CIS settings in accordance with a link quality between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. For example, the first wireless device and the second wireless device may tie a number of transmission opportunities that are usable for retransmissions, within a given isochronous (ISO) interval, to the link quality between the first wireless device and the second wireless device. The link quality may be tied or associated with a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of the link. As such, the first wireless device and the second wireless device may tie a dynamic change in MCS to a dynamic change in retransmission opportunities.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Richard Turner, Douglas Kogan, Laurent Wojcieszak, Mayank Batra, Vishal Agarwal

Patent number: 11375574Abstract: Reduced Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) latency on a link between a source and a pair of headphones may be achieved by improving the quality of the link between secondary and primary and establishing a direct link between the source and secondary to mitigate the link quality issues of the source and primary link. In one example, this involves receiving, via a first receiver, packets from a source on a first wireless connection, determining, by the first receiver, that a first packet received via the first wireless connection has an error, establishing a second connection between the first receiver and a second receiver, and establishing a third connection between the second receiver and the source. In particular, the first receiver may be configured as a primary True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Bluetooth device and the second receiver may be configured as a secondary TWS Bluetooth device.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2020Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Dishant Srivastava, Benjamin Campbell, Joel Linsky, Mayank Batra

Patent number: 11375578Abstract: The present disclosure provides a mechanism to perform a CSB burst mode between a master device and one or more slave devices. In CSB burst mode, the master device may broadcast more than one packet of data in a CSB interval, and hence, may use the time slots in a CSB interval more efficiently than while operating in traditional CSB mode. CSB burst mode of the present disclosure may be used to improve the latency and duty cycle of data transmissions, such as for example, broadcast audio. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine to broadcast a set of packets during a CSB interval, where the set of packets includes a plurality of packets. In some aspects, the apparatus may broadcast the set of packets during the CSB interval to a set of second nodes.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2019Date of Patent: June 28, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Mayank Batra, Joel Linsky, Robin Heydon, Brian Redding, Laurence George Richardson

Patent number: 11360203Abstract: Motion-detection systems are often used to detect presence of humans. Such motion-detection systems are often based on passive infrared (PIR) sensors. Unfortunately, such detection systems are unable to reliably distinguish between humans and other entities such as animals and moving heat sources. To address this issue, it is proposed to detect a presence of real time clock (RTC) devices in addition to detecting the heat sources to better determine whether a detected entity is a human.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2019Date of Patent: June 14, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Laurence George Richardson, Christopher Church, Jonathan Grenville Tanner, Magnus Sigverth Sommansson, Mayank Batra

Patent number: 11115811Abstract: Two devices (e.g., two wireless Bluetooth earbuds) may exchange device address information (e.g., Bluetooth address information) and may identify a primary address. When either of the devices connect to a source device (e.g., a phone), the primary address may be used by the connecting device such that the pair of devices appear as a single device (e.g., a Bluetooth-pairable device) to the source device, regardless of the device connecting to the source device as the primary device. The primary device may then send identity information (e.g., that has been exchanged with the secondary device) to the source device, such that the source device may connect to either of the two devices. Further, once a primary device connects to the source device, the primary device may transmit, to the secondary device, connection information such that the secondary device may connect to the source device and operate in the primary role.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2019Date of Patent: September 7, 2021Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Mayank Batra, Robin Heydon, Ravi Shekhar, Srivathsa Sridhara, Dishant Srivastava, Steven Singer, Nicholas Jones, Benjamin Campbell, Richard Cardoe, Laurence Richardson

Publication number: 20210153223Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may break down (e.g., filter) a frequency band of an input signal into various subbands, and an encoding stage may then allocate bits across the various subbands. In some examples, the encoding stage may allocate proportionally more bits to higher prioritized (e.g., lower frequency) subbands. Once the subbands have been encoded, the output of each individual encoder (e.g., each encoded subband) may be transmitted in a packet. As such, subbands transmitted as single packets (e.g., subbands transmitted in individual packets) may be shorter in length and may be more efficiently prioritized by a transmitter and a receiver. For example, subbands may be prioritized based on a location where the most data is found in audio, based on the tone of a speaker (e.g., for speech encoding), etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2019Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventors: Mayank Batra, Magnus Sigverth Sommansson, Laurence George Richardson, Jonathan Grenville Tanner, Christopher Church

Patent number: 10979990Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a wireless audio device are described. A first (e.g., primary) wireless audio device may initiate a role switch procedure with a second (e.g., secondary) wireless audio device. The first wireless audio device may disable traffic flow between the source device and the first wireless audio device and transmit synchronization information and timing information necessary for taking over the role of primary wireless audio device to the second wireless audio device. The first wireless audio device may transmit a device role switch message, and the first wireless audio device and the second wireless audio device may perform the role switch. After performing the role switch, the first wireless audio device may assume the role of a secondary wireless audio device and the second wireless audio device may assume the role of a primary wireless audio device.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2019Date of Patent: April 13, 2021Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Dishant Srivastava, Steven Singer, Robin Heydon, Mayank Batra, Joel Linsky
