  • Patent number: 8016765
Abstract: The present invention provides a new multi-mode sphygmomanometer which integrates into one enclosure a full manual sphygmomanometer comprising a mechanical cuff pressure measuring and display system, a manual inflation bulb and deflation valve such elements comprising the manual/mechanical aspect of the integrated device. Within the same physical enclosure and integrated with the manual sphygmomanometer the device also comprises an electronic blood pressure measuring and monitoring device comprising electronic sensing of the pressure, electronic indication of the cuff pressure and oscillation or KS amplitudes and logic implemented in a microprocessor that automatically interprets these signals to determine the BP parameters.

  • Publication number: 20080119785
Abstract: An internal compression tourniquet catheter system and method for wound track navigation for controlling hemorrhage from wounds. The preferred embodiments include an inflatable member constructed of thin, flexible, biocompatible, and puncture resistant material such that when deflated it lies flat and can be wrapped around the catheter shaft, which passes within and has a lumen to inflate it, to minimize overall diameter when deflated for insertion into the tissue track created by the wounding agent. The inflatable member is of large potential volume enabling full inflation with near zero internal pressure when unconstrained externally. When positioned within a wound track and inflated, the gas or liquid injected into the balloon lumen creates pressure because its expansion is constrained by the tissues of the wound, and that pressure is transmitted directly to the surrounding tissue of the wound track.

  • Publication number: 20050143689
Abstract: An internal compression tourniquet catheter system and method for controlling hemorrhage from wounds, particularly penetrating wounds. Its construction includes an inflatable member constructed of very thin, flexible, biocompatible, and nonelastic and puncture resistant material such that when deflated it lies flat and can be wrapped around the catheter shaft, which passes within and has a lumen to inflate it, to minimize overall diameter when deflated for insertion into the tissue track created by the wounding agent.

  • Publication number: 20040143297
Abstract: An AED being powered by 120/240 VAC electrical power alone, being powered by external DC power alone, or any in combination with or without internal-integral battery power, and further an AED access service business method for sales of access to AEDs. The inventive AED, in addition to the defibrillator circuitry comprises a long, tangle free power access cord to be plugged into an external source of AC or DC power and optionally, additional sets of body surface and alternative electrodes positioned in the esophagus and/or heart. The AED has additional advanced capabilities including the ability to deliver rapid sequential shocks through one or more sets of patient electrodes, and the optional mode of shock delivery whereby the shock is delayed while the AED continues to analyze the patients ECG waveform and delays the defibrillation shock or sequence of shocks until the ECG analysis indicates conditions are optimum for successful defibrillation.

  • Publication number: 20030229379
Abstract: A method for cardioverting or defibrillating a patient comprises the steps of: positioning a plurality of electrodes on a plurality of locations of the patient; and applying cyclically repeated steps of rapid sequenced stimulation at various cycle lengths, using generally pacing-strength electric currents sequentially delivered in rapid succession to the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5505207
Abstract: A series of blood pressure cuffs is provided having two indications of size thereon. The first indication of size is preferably a sequential system of numbers numbering the size of the cuffs from smallest to largest. The second system of size indication is a caricature depiction of animals of increasing size on each of the respective increasing cuff sizes. For example, five cuffs may be sized from smallest to largest having depicted thereon a goldfish, a rabbit, a duck, a dog and a dinosaur.
