  • Patent number: 6420200
Abstract: An object of the invention is to reduce the manufacturing cost of EL display devices and electronic devices incorporating the EL display devices. An EL material is formed by printing in an active matrix EL display device. Relief printing or screen printing may be used as the method of printing. Manufacturing steps of the EL layer is therefore simplified and reduction of manufacturing cost is devised.

  • Publication number: 20020084464
Abstract: Two aspects, an impurity factor and a structural factor are assumed as the deterioration causes of an organic light emitting device and means for solving the respective factors are provided. In order to prevent deterioration of the light emitting device, concentrations of moisture and oxygen, which are left in a space in which an organic light emitting element is sealed, are minimized. At the same time, an impurity including oxygen, such as moisture or oxygen which is included in an organic compound composing the organic light emitting element, is reduced. An element structure for preventing the deterioration of the organic light emitting element due to stress is used to suppress the deterioration.

  • Patent number: 6384427
Abstract: To provide an electronic device capable of bright image display. A pixel is structured such that a switching TFT and a current controlling TFT are formed on a substrate and an EL element is electrically connected to the current controlling TFT. A gate capacitor formed between a gate electrode of the current controlling TFT and an LDD region thereof holds a voltage applied to the gate electrode, and hence a capacitor (condenser) is not particularly necessary in the pixel, thereby making the effective light emission area of the pixel large.

  • Publication number: 20020050786
Abstract: The luminance of different colors of light emitted from EL elements in a pixel portion of a light emitting device is equalized and the luminance of light emitted from the EL elements is raised. The pixel portion of the light emitting device has EL elements whose EL layers contain triplet compounds and EL elements whose EL layers contain singlet compounds in combination. The luminance of light emitted from the plural EL elements is thus equalized. Furthermore, a hole transporting layer has a laminate structure to thereby cause the EL elements to emit light of higher luminance.

  • Publication number: 20020034659
Abstract: There is provided a light emitting device and an electronic appliance, which are light and have low consumption power and superior durability. In an organic EL element in which high light emission efficiency is obtained by converting triplet excitation energy into light to be emitted, a spiro compound having a higher heat resistance than a conventionally used material or an organic compound having high molecular stability is applied. Thus, an organic EL element which is light and has low consumption power and superior durability is obtained. Using this organic EL element, the light emitting device and the electronic appliance are manufactured.
