  • Patent number: 6888890
Abstract: In a motion vector searching device which includes a motion vector searching portion (101-110) supplied with an input picture signal representative of a succession of pictures for dividing each of the pictures of the input picture signal into blocks and for searching for a motion vector as a searched motion vector for each of the blocks of each of the pictures in a search area of the input picture signal for each of the blocks of each of the pictures, a learning portion (113, 313) learns tendencies of the searched motion vectors for previous pictures previous to a current picture of the pictures of the input picture signal to produce tendency information representative of the tendencies.

  • Patent number: 6629070
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for detecting a voice presence/absence state of a frame which is obtained by dividing a voice signal into frames, comprising steps of: dividing the frame into sub-frames; calculating a physical amount of the voice signal energy in each sub-frame; and determining whether the frame is in a voice presence state or a voice absence state on the basis of a degree of variation of energy among multiple adjoining pairs of the sub-frames.

  • Patent number: 6502071
Abstract: Power conservation, when generating background noise samples in a radio receiver, is disclosed. Background noise data is generated using at least one noise parameter that is transmitted in a manner included in framed noise information. This information is transmitted at predetermined time intervals during a period of no-speech. A controller is provided so as to check to determine if an incoming framed data is the noise information. In the case where the incoming framed data is specified as the noise information, a check is made to determine if a time period, which corresponds to a predetermined number of consecutive frames, has expired. When the time period has not yet elapsed, the background noise data is generated using at least one noise parameter in a manner of extending to the predetermined number of frames.

  • Publication number: 20020054710
Abstract: Output code amount control circuit 150 confirms an accumulated amount of audio data stored in audio data buffer 111, an accumulated amount of image data stored in image data buffer 122 and an accumulated amount of control data stored in control data buffer 132 and determines a control method for controlling an amount of coded image data outputted from image coding circuit 121. Image coding circuit 121 performs a coding operation of an image signal inputted through image input terminal 120 while controlling the amount of the coded image data to be outputted, according to the control method notified by output code amount control circuit 150 and the coded image data is stored in image data buffer 120.

  • Patent number: 5899967
Abstract: In the disclosed speech decoding device, activation of a postfilter process is halted during unvoiced sections. However, the updating process of the internal states of the postfilter continues even though the postfilter process is not activated during unvoiced sections. At changes between voiced and unvoiced sections, output signals outputted during voiced sections that have been subjected to a postfilter process and output signals outputted during unvoiced sections that have not been subjected to a postfilter process are interpolated and outputted. In one embodiment, a prefilter controller activates a prefilter state updater for unvoiced sections to update the internal state of the filter of a prefilter section based on excited signals to decrease any perception of noncontinuity in an output signal switching between activation and deactivation of the prefilter when changing between voiced and unvoiced sections.

  • Patent number: 5475790
Abstract: In order to reduce the number of update operations for determining LPC (viz., reflection) data from an incoming sampled data, a plurality of matrices representative of autocorrelation functions are set in memory. Subsequently, data representative of the upper triangular portions of the matrices (virtual upper triangular matrices) are extracted from the memory and arranged into an array. This array is then updated using a j-th reflection coefficient, after which the value of j is incremented and the updating is repeated until a predetermined number of updating is completed.
