  • Patent number: 11519110
Abstract: The garments disclosed herein have integrated gripping technology to grip the body of the wearer over large interior surfaces. The distribution of gripping technology throughout the garment gives increased freedom of body movement and reduces bulkiness over conventional garments, while also allowing for free cut edges. Furthermore, the dispersion of the gripping technology over the majority of the garment eliminates the problem of polymer strips and beading digging into the skin. Slip garment embodiments are disclosed herein that include a lower region having an interior surface with exposed elastic threads configured to directly contact the wearer. The slip garment embodiments include a free-cut lower edge. The slip garment embodiments can be constructed using cut and sew methods.

  • Publication number: 20220279867
Abstract: The upper body garments disclosed herein include shoulder straps formed of a woven tubular material flattened into a double-ply fabric. The woven tubular shoulder straps have advantageously high recovery. The upper body garments also include a torso-encircling main body portion with a breast supporting region coupled to a body strap. The body strap is formed of a circular knit, tubular material flattened into double-ply fabric. The woven tubular shoulder straps are coupled to the circular knit, tubular body strap. In some embodiments, the weft yarn of the woven tubular shoulder straps can have different material properties than the warp yarn of the woven tubular shoulder straps. Methods of making the upper body garments are also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 10448678
Abstract: A front panel for a sports bra has an interior liner layer having a back face contacting a wearer's skin, and an exterior shell layer having a back face facing a front face of the interior liner layer and coupled to the interior liner layer. A film layer is located between the front face of the interior liner layer and the back face of the exterior shell layer. The film layer becomes stiffer as a frequency of movement of a wearer's breasts increases, thereby absorbing forces caused by the movement of the wearer's breasts. A method for constructing a sports bra front panel with a thermally-induced shape memory polymer that exhibits viscoelastic properties when at body temperature and stiffens to absorb between about 0.015 N and about 0.03 N of force at frequencies of breast movement of between about 6 Hz and about 15 Hz is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180310643
Abstract: Difficulties with designing strapless bras include ensuring that they are comfortable, breathable, and that they do not slide down on the wearer's body. Many strapless bra designs use elastic bands or high friction polymer coatings to keep the bra in place. These additions can be uncomfortable and add weight to the bras. The bra wings disclosed herein have exposed elastic threads that grip the wearer's body to resist sliding. They are comfortable and light-weight, with free-cut edges that ensure a smooth look on the wearer's body. Single-layer construction and lack of high-friction coatings or elastics ensure breathability. Methods of making the bra with integrated gripping technology are also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 9565877
Abstract: A bra includes a pair of bra cups, each bra cup in the pair having an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner edges configured to be coupled to one another. The bra includes a pair of bra wings, each bra wing in the pair having a first end and a second end, each first end being coupled to an outer edge of each bra cup, respectively, and the second ends configured to be coupled to one another. At least one of the pair of bra cups and the pair of bra wings comprises a layer of fabric having intrinsically sticky fibers. The layer of fabric having intrinsically sticky fibers comprises an inner layer of the pair of bra cups and/or the pair of bra wings and contacts a wearer's skin while the bra is being worn, causing the bra to cling to the wearer's skin.

  • Publication number: 20070298680
Abstract: A bra cup component has an inner fabric layer with lower, middle and lower cup areas. The lower cup area is knit fabric of a first synthetic yarn that is initially flexible and then becomes more rigid after being heated to a temperature higher than any temperature the bra would experience during washing and wearing. The upper cup area knit of a second polyester yarn. An outer fabric layer over the inner fabric layer is attached around the perimeter and is closely adjacent the upper cup area and spaced from the lower cup area to form a support space. An underwire area is around a lower portion of the lower cup area so that the lower cup area extending between opposite ends of the underwire area for creating a bust lifting effect.
