  • Publication number: 20220140668
Abstract: An electric machine includes a core comprising a plurality of core segments extending in a longitudinal direction and a plurality of slots being equally spaced peripherally around the core and formed between cutouts in adjacent segments. A plurality of windings is disposed on the core and includes straight portions disposed in the plurality of slots and turn portions extending past at least one axial end of the core along the longitudinal direction. The core and windings are assembled together in an unrolled condition, where the mat is placed in an unrolled core, and then rolled together to form a stator or rotor.

  • Patent number: 11239717
Abstract: Various examples related to shifted fractional pitch wye-delta multilayer windings and their use in AC machines. In one example, a winding includes a first wye-delta winding with first wye and delta windings for each phase and a second wye-delta winding with second wye and delta windings for each phase. The first and second wye windings for each phase are connected in series and the first and second delta windings are connected in series, and formed wye and delta windings are connected in a wye-delta configuration thereby providing an electrical phase shift between the two windings. The windings are interdigitated to provide a physical shift between the first and second wye windings and the first and second delta windings. Such windings can be used in, e.g., permanent magnet synchronous machines, synchronous machines, reluctance machines, and induction machines.

  • Patent number: 11177761
Abstract: An electric machine includes a rotor and a stator. The stator includes a stator core having a plurality of slots. The stator further includes a plurality of drive modules configured to collectively produce an aggregate rotating magnetic field. Each respective drive module includes a power supply configured to generate a respective poly-phase alternating current (AC) output and is connected to a plurality of respective conductor windings. Each respective conductor winding includes a plurality of respective conductors, each respective conductor configured to carry a respective phase of the respective poly-phase AC output. Each respective drive module is configured to generate a rotating, poly-phase, multipole magnetic field. The rotating, poly-phase, multipole magnetic field is a superimposition of a plurality of respective mono-phase, multiple magnetic fields being generated by a respective conductor of the respective conductor winding.
