    Abstract: Provided herein are methods for treating diabetic cardiomyopathy in a patient in need thereof, such as a patient diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. The methods generally include administering a therapeutically effective amount of one or more glucose transporter isoform 1 (GLUT1) inhibitors to the patient. Exemplary GLUT1 inhibitors include STF-31, WZB117, phloretin, and BAY-876.
