  • Patent number: 10895317
Abstract: A hybrid drive unit configured for arrangement in a torque path upstream from a transmission and downstream from an internal combustion engine is provided. The hybrid drive unit includes an electric motor, a clutch configured for selectively coupling the internal combustion engine to the electric motor for driving the transmission, and a housing supporting the electric motor. The housing includes a fluid inlet channel for directing cooling fluid from the transmission to the electric motor. The hybrid drive unit also includes a filter assembly attached to the housing. The filter assembly is arranged in a fluid flow path of the cooling fluid downstream of the inlet and upstream of the electric motor. The filter assembly is configured for removing ferrous metallic particles from the cooling fluid.

  • Patent number: 10811945
Abstract: The permanent magnet machine includes a stator, a rotor inside the stator and a ferromagnetic component fixed axially movably to the rotor. The ferromagnetic component is configured for actuating axially toward the rotor to weaken a magnetic field of the rotor. The method of constructing a permanent magnet machine includes providing a stator and a rotor inside the stator; and axially movably fixing a ferromagnetic component to the rotor such that the ferromagnetic component is configured for actuating axially toward the rotor to weaken a magnetic field of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 10710464
Abstract: A motor vehicle drive train assembly includes an axial flux induction motor including a stator, a first rotor and a second rotor. The stator, the first rotor and the second rotor are concentric with a motor center axis. The first rotor is axially spaced from a first axial side of the stator by a first air gap and the second rotor is axially spaced from a second axial side of the stator by a second air gap. The axial flux induction motor is configured such that the first rotor is rotatable about the motor center axis by the stator at a first rotational speed to drive a first drive shaft non-rotatably connected to the first rotor while the second rotor is rotatable about the motor center axis by the stator at a second rotational speed that is greater than the first rotational speed to drive a second drive shaft non-rotatably connected to the second rotor.

  • Patent number: 10626930
Abstract: A wedge clutch, including: outer and inner races; a wedge plate radially between the inner and outer races; and an electromagnetic actuator. The electromagnetic actuator includes: a coil; a first coil core piece including a first end disposed within the coil and a second end connected to the wedge plate; and a second coil core piece including a first end disposed within the first coil and a second end connected to the wedge plate. In a locked mode of the clutch, the inner race and outer races and the wedge plate are non-rotatably connected for rotation of the inner race in a circumferential direction. In a free-wheel mode of the clutch, the inner race is rotatable, with respect to the outer race, in the circumferential direction. To transition from the locked mode to the free-wheel mode, the electromagnetic actuator is arranged to be energized to radially contract the wedge plate.
