Patent number: 9265065Abstract: A method, in a base station, provide a mechanism for observing random access performance in a Long Term Evolution network. The random access performance is defined by an access delay. The access delay is a delay from the initial random access attempt until access is granted. The method comprises receiving a respective report from a plurality of user equipment, where each of the respective user equipment has performed a random access process and received a random access grant. The reactive report includes access delay related random access information. The method includes determining a respective access delay, based on each of the access delay related random access information. The determined access delays are used for the estimation of access delay statistics. The random access performance is observed based on the access delay statistics.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2010Date of Patent: February 16, 2016Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Mehdi Amirijoo, Filip Andren, Fredrik Gunnarsson

Patent number: 9241241Abstract: A method in a first radio network node for handling position measurements is provided. The first radio network node receives from a second radio network node a position measurement associated with a user equipment, and a system frame number. The system frame number is associated with the second radio network node. The system frame number is further related to a point in time when the position measurement was performed. The first radio network node calculates a position estimate of the position of the user equipment based on the position measurement. The first radio network node defines a time stamp which is based on the received system frame number. The first radio network node then signals to a third radio network node a positioning response. The positioning response comprises the position estimate and the time stamp.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2011Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Mehdi Amirijoo, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Johan Moe, András Rácz, Åke Busin

Publication number: 20150215927Abstract: A method in, and a network node (110, 140), for supporting compensation of cell outage in a cellular communications network (100). The cellular communications network (100) comprises a compensating cell (135) for compensating the cell outage and a supporting cell (115) neighbouring the compensating cell (135). The network node (110, 140) obtains (502, 1202) a sub-band of a system bandwidth for uplink scheduling of resources for the compensating cell (135). The network node (110, 140) schedules (503, 1203), in response to the cell outage, resources for the supporting cell (115) with restricted uplink scheduling within the sub-band. The network node applies (504, 1204) the scheduled resources in the supporting cell (115), thereby supporting the compensation of cell outage. As a result, higher Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) is enabled in the uplink in the compensating cell. This may e.g.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2012Publication date: July 30, 2015Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Mehdi Amirijoo, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Johan Moe

Publication number: 20140349695Abstract: The invention relates to a method for service aware scheduling of wireless resources in a wireless network. According to the inventive method, a service request for service delivery of a service type is received (51). A performance to value relationship for the service type is determined (52) and approximated (53) with a scheduling weight function associated with the service type. Previous performance for service delivery related to this service request is evaluated and approximated with a performance estimate (54). A scheduling weight is determined (55) by introducing the performance estimate in the scheduling weight function. Resource scheduling is performed (58) following a step of comparing (56) scheduling weights for on-going service requests. The invention also includes a network node and a system for service aware scheduling of wireless resources in a wireless network.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2011Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Kristina Zetterberg, Mehdi Amirijoo, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Johan Moe, Birgitta Olin

Publication number: 20140308958Abstract: A method in a base station (110) for enabling the base station (110) to identify a neighbouring base station (120) is provided. A request is being sent (303) to a user equipment (130), commanding it to send an identification requesting message to the neighbouring base station (120). In response to reception of the sent identification requesting message, a neighbouring base station identifier that is associated with and identifies the neighbouring base station (120), is received (303). Thereby the base station (110) is enabled to identify the neighbouring base station (120). By receipt of the neighbouring base station identifier, the base station becomes aware of and is enabled to contact, or connect with, the neighbouring base station more directly, without the need of doing it through the user equipment. This can be done at some later point in time, for example in order to request the neighbouring base station to perform handover measurements with regard to the same or another user equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2011Publication date: October 16, 2014Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Mehdi Amirijoo, Pål Frenger, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Johan Moe

Publication number: 20140295884Abstract: A method in a radio network node is disclosed for handling positioning data in a radio communications network, which radio network node serves a user equipment in a cell. The radio network node obtains positioning data from the user equipment, which positioning data is associated with a positioning measurement for positioning the user equipment. The radio network node associates the obtained positioning data with an on-going trace session of the user equipment. The radio network node then sends a trace record to a network management node, which trace record includes information associated with the positioning data.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2011Publication date: October 2, 2014Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: András Racz, Mehdi Amirijoo, Fredrik Gunnarsson, Johan Moe
