  • Patent number: 8729156
Abstract: The invention provides a composition exhibiting improved impact resistance at low levels of impact modifier. The composition comprises a polyhydroxyalkanoic acid and: (A) an elastomeric compound of core-shell type wherein the amount of (A) is from 0.1 to 6% by mass of the composition; and (B) and an olefinic copolymer comprising an ethylenic monomer bearing an epoxy function; wherein the amount of (B) is from 0.01 to 0.6% by mass of the composition and the mass ratio of (A)/(B) is from 85/15 to 99.5/0.5.

    Assignee: Arkema France
Inventors: Sebastien Quinebeche, Zuzanna Donnelly, Mehdi M. Emad
  • Publication number: 20130345363
Abstract: The invention relates to an impact-modified bio-degradable polymer composition having large particle size impact modifiers dispersed in a continuous biodegradable polymer phase. The impact modifiers have a core-shell morphology and may have average sizes of greater than 250 nm. The impact-modified composition has good impact properties and low haze, The biodegradable polymer is preferably a polylactide or polyhydroxy butyrate. The composition comprises 30-99.9 weight percent of degradable polymer and 0.1 to 15 weight percent of one or more impact modifiers.

  • Patent number: 8309193
Abstract: The present invention relates to a symmetrical multi-layer tube based on polyamide and ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH) or polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) for transferring fluids. As examples of tubes for transferring fluids, mention may be made of fuel (gasoline, diesel fuel) pipes, in particular for carrying fuel from the tank to the engine of motor vehicles. Other examples of fluid transfer include, but are not limited to, the fluids used in fuel cells, CO2 systems for cooling, hydraulic systems, cooling circuits and air-conditioning circuits, and medium-pressure power transfer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 24, 2007
Date of Patent: November 13, 2012
    Assignee: Arkema Inc.

  • Publication number: 20090035503
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multilayer structure based on rubber and on polyamide-block graft copolymer, comprising in succession: a) optionally a first, inner layer (1) formed of a rubber or of a polyamide, b) at least one layer (2) based on a polyamide-block graft copolymer composed of a polyolefin backbone and at least one polyamide graft, wherein the grafts are attached to the backbone by the residues of an unsaturated monomer (X) having a function which is capable of reacting with an amine-terminated polyamide, the residues of the unsaturated monomer (X) being attached to the backbone by grafting or copolymerization via its double bond, c) a second layer (3) formed of a rubber, d) optionally a binder layer (4), e) an outer layer (5) formed of a rubber, f) optionally a reinforcing layer situated between two of the preceding layers or within said layers.
