Patent number: 12200018Abstract: Methods and systems for restricting communication services over a network. The method includes detecting a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) register message originating from a specific network Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) that is included in a restricted PLMN list identified by a P-Access-Network-Information header (P-ANI). The method further includes implementing a policy to remove RCS and presence capability feature tags from a subsequent SIP register message. The lack of feature tags to Serving Call Session Control Function (S-CSCF) will prohibit triggering of Third Party Registration to different application servers.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2023Date of Patent: January 14, 2025Assignee: T-MOBILE INNOVATION LLCInventors: Saqib Badar, Mehul Jayant Shah, A. Publication number: 20240406842Abstract: Aspects herein provide systems, methods, and media for terrestrially controlling whether user devices are allowed to or preventing from accessing and utilizing a non-terrestrial network. Using geofencing and time-based threshold techniques, a terrestrial network component determines and control whether user devices within a geofence should be prevented from accessing and utilizing the non-terrestrial network in order to avoid overloading the capacity of the non-terrestrial network. The terrestrial network component sends an indication and/or error to the non-terrestrial network for delivery to the user device to prevent the access. When the user device receives the indication and/or error from a satellite, for example, the user device that is within the geofence is caused to access and utilize the terrestrial network instead of the non-terrestrial network.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2023Publication date: December 5, 2024Inventors: Mehul Jayant SHAH, Suresh THANNEERU

Publication number: 20240314852Abstract: Aspects provided herein provide methods, systems, and a non-transitory computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions for packet data network device handling in a resource constrained network. A resource constrained network may be an extra-terrestrial network with limited bandwidth. This limited bandwidth may cause the typical process of establishing a default data bearer before establishing an IMS bearer unfeasible, as too much bandwidth may be used by the default data bearer. Aspects discussed below provide a mechanism to establish an IMS bearer without establishing a default data bearer. The method begins with determining a public land mobile network (PLMN) associated with a base station which a UE is attempting to connect to. Then, based on a determination that the PLMN associated with the base station does not allow connection with a PDN data bearer, a PDN connectivity request is communicated with an IMS bearer and without a data bearer.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2023Publication date: September 19, 2024Inventors: Mehul Jayant SHAH, Romil Kumar SOOD

Publication number: 20240205792Abstract: Solutions for routing an emergency call made through a non-terrestrial network (NTN) include: receiving, by an NTN, from a user equipment (UE), an emergency call; not selecting, by the NTN, a public safety answering point (PSAP) for routing the emergency call; selecting, by the NTN, a packet data network (PDN) gateway (GW) in a terrestrial network (TN) to which to route the emergency call; and routing the emergency call to the selected PDN GW. Solutions also include: receiving, by the TN, from the NTN, the emergency call placed by the UE that is using the NTN; determining, by the TN, a location of the UE; selecting, by the TN, a PSAP using the location of the UE; and routing the emergency call to the selected PSAP.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2022Publication date: June 20, 2024Inventor: Mehul Jayant Shah

Patent number: 10251162Abstract: Systems and methods for the management of communications related to telecommunications-based devices are provided. Telecommunications-based devices initiate requests to gateway computing devices corresponding to a radio communication network to establish data communications. The gateway computing device accepts the communication request and specifies an ordered preference of one or more communication protocols that will be used telecommunications-based devices accessing the wireless communication network. The telecommunications-based device processes the acceptance and selects a communication protocol from the ordered preference provided by the gateway computing device.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2015Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: T-Mobile USA, Inc.Inventor: Mehul Jayant Shah

Patent number: 9749837Abstract: A user location is estimated based on an IP address assigned to the user's device/equipment during registration for multimedia application services that are provided over the IP multimedia subsystems (IMS) network. The latitude and longitude information of the user location is obtained based on the IP address assigned to the user device/equipment. Such information is used to determine an appropriate server(s) for establishing an IP multimedia service session. In some embodiments, a closely located IMS server(s) is selected for proxying, interrogating, providing or delivering IP multimedia services. In this manner, each user device/equipment communicates with IMS servers that are located close to the user and thus, the geographically distributed load among the IMS gateway servers can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2015Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: T-Mobile USA, Inc.Inventors: Vishal Ashok Narkar, Mehul Jayant Shah

Patent number: 9402175Abstract: A system and method for selecting a proxy gateway server for controlling data traffic initiated by a user device roaming on a visited network is disclosed. The method includes utilizing a mobility anchor server associated with the visited network to receive a request to activate a data traffic session from a user device, identify the user device as a roaming user device, and select a proxy gateway server from one or more servers associated with the visited network for controlling the data traffic initiated by the roaming user device. The selection of a proxy server is accomplished by querying a DNS server associated with the visited network with a pre-defined roaming APN string associated with the visited network and, in response to the query, receiving an Internet Protocol (IP) address of the proxy gateway server from the DNS server.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2014Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: T-Mobile USA, Inc.Inventor: Mehul Jayant Shah
