  • Patent number: 6282798
Abstract: A finger-controlled device for pushing slide bars, including two sets of data carriers, two slide bars and a finger-controlled section for moving the slide bars. Each data carrier corresponds to a sensor for reading 0, 1 signals. Each data carrier has a central shaft disposed with a gear. A face of each slide bar is formed with a rack facing the central shaft for meshing with the gears. The finger-controlled section is movable relative to a housing having an interior chambers for receiving the data carriers, sensors and slide bars. Four side walls of the chamber are formed with through holes for the slide bars to pass therethrough. The housing restrains the slide bars to move relative to and across each other. In operation, the slide bars are moved relative to each other as the finger-controlled section is moved, whereby the data carriers are rotated by a fixed number of circles for use in absolute coordinate input alignment. The slide bars can be widened and thickened to have greater bending strength.

  • Patent number: 6091401
Abstract: The present invention is related to a device for controlling a cursor to rotate rightwards and leftwards and the method thereof, wherein a X axis sliding bar and a Y axis sliding bar are installed between the cover and base of said mouse, and said X axis sliding bar and said Y axis sliding bar are used as the X axis movable optic grid and the Y axis movable optic grid, respectively, said X axis movable optic grid and said Y axis movable optic grid will rotate with said base within a proper angle. When said cover of said mouse is moved or rotated, said X axis movable optic grid and said Y axis movable optic grid will move or rotate synchronously and match the installation of a light emitted diode, a photo transistor, fixing optic grids and a controlling circuit so that the cursor on the computer display may be controlled with a small active range.

  • Patent number: 6072469
Abstract: A cursor control device for controlling the movement and positioning of a cursor on a computer includes a finger controllable member formed on the cursor positioning device. The cursor on the display is controllable either in X-axis or Y-axis direction by means of sliding the finger controllable member on the device. The cursor positioning device includes a displacement detecting structure for detecting the movement of the finger controllable member, and photo encoder detectors for detecting the operating situation of the X-axis and Y-axis photo encoders which are arranged in 90 degrees phase deference in space. In such an arrangement, the displacement of the finger controllable member in X-axis and Y-axis direction may be detected as coordinate date. The detected coordinate data is transmitted to a control circuit for further processes and then sent to a computer device.

  • Patent number: 6034670
Abstract: This is an improvement of a cursor positioning apparatus for a computer display device which includes an upper case, a center body and a lower case. It controls the movement and positioning of a cursor through the sliding movement of X-axis and Y-axis. There are also photo electric components for detecting the movement of photo grid and the displacement of the sliding bar in X-axis and Y-axis. The sensing signals are sent to a control circuit board and computer for further processing. The present invention may further have a curve-shaped slot in the upper case engaging with a square center pillar in the center body. The center pillar further engages with the lower case, and thus becomes an integral part of a keyboard. The present invention can be rotationally operated about a fixed axis point. A user can use hand and wrist to control the movement and positioning of the cursor on a display device without moving the arm. It is better ergonomically designed and structured than the conventional mouse.

  • Patent number: 5990870
Abstract: A finger rest structure of computer mouse, including a housing having a profile substantially suitable for manual operation of a user and a finger rest unit including at least one rest plate transversely projecting from a lateral side of the housing for a finger to rest thereon. Two rest plates are respectively disposed on left and right sides of the housing near front and rear ends. Alternatively, the rest plate is integrally connected along the rear side and a part of lateral side of the housing. Alternatively, the rest plates are pivotally and foldably connected with the housing or disposed at two ends of a rotary plate which is rotatably disposed under the housing, whereby the rest plate can be selectively extended or retracted. The rest plate serves to bear most of the weight of the hand and reduce the frictional force of the hand against the table face.
