  • Publication number: 20080042451
Abstract: The deadbolt handle locking device is releasable strap secured to a deadbolt lock handle of a door and to the shaft of a doorknob, selectively preventing rotation of the deadbolt lock handle. The securement device includes a base strap having a central portion and opposed proximal and distal ends. The proximal end of the base strap forms a loop having an adjustable circumference for adjustable and releasable tightening about the deadbolt lock handle. The central portion of the base strap is wound about the shaft of the doorknob, and a distal region of the central portion is releasably secured to a proximal region of the central portion, thus preventing rotation of the deadbolt lock handle and preventing unauthorized opening of the door. The distal region of the central portion may be secured to the proximal region by a hook-and-loop type fastener, for example.

  • Patent number: 6182485
Abstract: A deadbolt security attachment, removably installable on a deadbolt latch handle by an occupant within a room or structure, made up of a flexible strap which secures to the deadbolt handle, is wrapped about the shank of a doorknob, and is extended to secure to itself, the strap facing surfaces including hook and loop securing material. When the present device is secured between the doorknob shank and the deadbolt latch handle, the latch handle cannot be moved through its normal arc of operation to allow the door to be opened. Even if a person attempting entry to the area has a key to the deadbolt lock, the torque which may be transmitted to the lock by the key, is easily overcome by the present security strap. The present device is completely removable from the doorknob shank and deadbolt latch handle to be carried by the user when the room is not occupied.

  • Patent number: 5517838
Abstract: A portable deadbolt lock security device is configured to prevent the handle of the deadbolt lock from being turned. The device includes a flexible strap having a first end, a second end, and a medial portion. An opening is located in the first end of the strap. A fastener is provided for mutually engaging the second end of the strap with the medial portion. In use, the handle of the deadbolt lock is turned to its locked position and inserted into the opening in the first end of the strap. Subsequently, the second end of the strap is encircled about the stem of a doorknob, pulled taut, and brought into mutual engagement with the medial portion of the strap.
