  • Patent number: 9672865
Abstract: Methods and systems described herein provide for visualizing content across different time segments of a media asset. Information about content within a particular time segment of a media asset is retrieved. This content information is generated by processing user-generated messages corresponding to the particular time segment. Content descriptors are generated based on the received content information corresponding to the particular time segment. A timeline is generated, independently of presenting a media asset, wherein the timeline visually associates content descriptors with their corresponding time segments of the media asset. When these content descriptors are selected by a user, the user-generated messages corresponding to the content descriptor at the corresponding time segment are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 9531708
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for determining a biometric state of a user or an emotional state of a user. Based on the determined biometric state or emotional state, a determination is made whether information about a location is restricted. In response to determining that information about a location is restricted, a portion of the information about the location is identified, and access to the portion of the information is disabled.

  • Patent number: 9482675
Abstract: The presently-disclosed subject matter includes methods and devices for diagnosing, prognosing, and treating brain damage in a subject, including brain damage caused by stroke or a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The methods can comprise providing a sample obtained from the subject, exposing the sample to an antibody selective for a visinin-like protein, detecting the presence of a complex that includes the antibody and the visinin-like protein, and diagnosing and/or prognosing the subject as having brain damage if there is the presence of the complex. Embodied methods can also comprise administering a treatment for brain damage if the subject includes the presence of the visinin-like protein.

  • Publication number: 20150381923
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for automatically adjusting a play length of a media asset based on actions of a user. For example, a media guidance application may select a media asset for presentation while a user brushes his teeth. Based on the progress of the teeth cleaning, the play length of the media asset may be adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20150379118
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for automatically adjusting media playlists, and media assets within those playlists, based on one or more activities performed by a user. For example, a media guidance application may select media assets for inclusion in a media playlist that correspond to particular activities. Moreover, the media playlist may be structured such that the select media assets are automatically presented while the user is performing the particular activities.

  • Publication number: 20150347764
Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for a media guidance application that modifies parental control preferences based on the biometric state of a first user (e.g., a parent) and whether or not a change of the biometric state of the first user is caused by a second user (e.g., a child) that is subject to the parental control preferences.

  • Publication number: 20150348122
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for a media guidance application that performs one or more media guidance application operations based on the biometric state of a user. For example, the media guidance application can present customize media content and/or perform customize media guidance application operations that are targeted to a user based on both the current biometric state of the user and the current location of the user.

  • Publication number: 20150189375
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for presenting information to groups of users using user optical devices that enable each user to view and share media content in a collaborative manner. For example, users using linked user optical devices may perceive a media playlist on a particular wall. The media playlist may then be modified (e.g., media assets may be added and/or removed) based on any of the users contacting the particular wall.

  • Publication number: 20130179783
Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently navigating through related content based on a profile associated with a user are provided. A media asset being displayed on a second user equipment device is identified, with the first user equipment device. A visual indication of the media asset is generated for display on the first user equipment device. A search for a plurality of content that is related to the displayed media asset is performed. A first gesture is received with the first user equipment device while the media asset is being displayed. Navigation is performed between the plurality of content based on the received gesture.

  • Publication number: 20130179925
Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently navigating through related content based on a profile associated with a user are provided. Content being displayed on the user equipment device from a first media asset received from a first content source of the plurality of content sources to a second media asset received from a second content source of the plurality of content sources is changed based on a first user selection of a first set of navigation keys. A second user selection of the second set of navigation keys is received. The second user selection is received while the second media asset is being displayed. A search for a plurality of content related to the second media asset is performed. A set of the plurality of content corresponding to a profile associated with the user is identified. The identified set is navigated based on the second user selection.

  • Patent number: 6535827
Abstract: Rupture path logic methods of detecting, locating and isolating ruptures within a fluid piping system are disclosed, wherein a rupture within a piping system can be detected and isolated based solely upon local pressure and flow rate measurements at individual valves within the system without the need for communication of measured fluid data between valves at various locations throughout the system. A fluid characteristic is determined individually for each valve based upon the pressure and flow rate measurements at the valve, and that fluid characteristic is compared with set point fluid characteristic information to determine whether each valve is on a fluid path between a fluid supply source and a rupture.
