A spike cap drive rotatably mounts on the main body having a socket end for engaging a drive nut on the implant to, in turn, move the spike cap.

A medical implant may be attached to the instrument via an adapter located at a distal end of the drive assembly. Following use for insertion of the medical implant into a patient, the disposable insertion instrument may be discarded.

Tightening of a first knob and a second knob on the first and second rod allow for repositioning of the vertebra.
