  • Patent number: 11318723
Abstract: The present invention is directed to hot-fill/retort packaging films having a sealant layer composition comprising a first propylene-ethylene copolymer, a second propylene-ethylene copolymer and a polyethylene. Hot-fill/retort packaging films are provided herein having a sealant layer composition that exhibits an ultimate hot tack within a range from 88 N/m to 876 H/m (0.5 lb./in to 5 lb./in) at a temperature within the range from 116° C. to 182° C. (240° F. to 360° F.).

  • Publication number: 20220111622
Abstract: A multilayer film that has improved ultrasonic sealing properties is disclosed. The multilayer film includes a first layer and a second layer. The second layer includes a first sublayer composed of a polypropylene copolymer, a thermoplastic polyolefin having a modulus of 1,700 MPa or less, and olefin block copolymer. The second layer further includes a second sublayer composed of a polypropylene homopolymer or polypropylene copolymer. A laminating agent may be positioned between the first layer and the second layer. The multilayer film has a seal initiation temperature of greater than 105 degrees Celsius, in some embodiments, packages made from the multilayer film are adapted to withstand exposure to high heat pasteurization of greater than 70 degrees Celsius.

  • Publication number: 20210068422
Abstract: A weatherized mineral mixture is produced by heating a digestible fat or fatty acid and spraying a mineral mixture with the heated digestible fatty acid to form a protective layer over the mineral mixture. The weatherized mineral mixture may be free of salts of fatty acids, namely soaps. The weatherized mineral mixture sheds water and is wind-resistant. Upon ingestion by livestock animals, the protective coating is digested and the minerals within the mineral mixture are absorbed by the livestock animal.
