  • Patent number: 11202622
Abstract: A biopsy device includes a body, an axial tube, a needle assembly, and a tissue sample holder. The body includes a proximal end. The axial tube extends proximally from the proximal end of the body. The axial tube includes at least one aperture. The needle assembly extends distally from the body and includes a needle and a cutter. The cutter is movable relative to the needle. The tissue sample holder is configured to removably couple to a proximal end of the body such that the axial tube is disposed within the tissue sample holder. At least a portion of the tissue sample holder is rotatable relative to the body such that the tissue sample holder is configured to rotate about the axial tube. The tissue sample holder is in fluid communication with the axial tube through the at least one aperture.

  • Publication number: 20190247028
Abstract: A biopsy system, including a probe set, a holster, and a user interface. The probe set includes a plurality of probes. Each probe of the probe set includes a probe body, a needle, a cutter, and a tissue sample holder. The tissue sample holder is in communication with the cutter to receive one or more tissue samples. The holster is selectively securable to each probe of the probe set. The user interface is in communication with the holster. The user interface includes a display. The user interface is configured to identify which probe of the probe set is secured to the holster when a selected probe of the probe set is secured to the holster.

  • Publication number: 20190015084
Abstract: A guide device for guiding a medical instrument relative to a patient. The guide device is usable with a first plate including a plurality of apertures. The guide device includes a body, a plurality of outer passageways, and a flexible member. The body is defined by at least one surface that includes a generally proximal portion and a generally distal portion. The plurality of outer passageways extend from the generally proximal portion through the body to the generally distal portion. A flexible member is disposed between each passageway. The flexible member defines an inner passageway and is selectively deformable such that a selected passageway of the plurality of outer passageways or the inner passageway is configured to receive at least a portion of the medical instrument.

  • Publication number: 20180344299
Abstract: A biopsy device comprises a probe body, a needle portion, a hollow cutter, and a tissue sample holder. The needle portion extends distally from the probe body and comprises a transverse tissue receiving aperture. The hollow cutter is translatable relative to the needle portion to sever a tissue sample from tissue protruding though the aperture. The hollow cutter defines a cutter lumen. The tissue sample holder comprises a body and a tissue sample tray. The tissue sample tray is removably engaged with the body and comprises a downwardly extending lumen. The downwardly extending lumen includes a pair of lower openings which are in communication with a chamber defined by the tissue sample tray.
