  • Patent number: 8479472
Abstract: A method and composition for reconditioning the inner surfaces of a facility. After removing loose material, corrosion and rust by abrading the surface, repairs are made to the surface. Gaps, cracks, and pits are filled and transitions from one surface material to another are smoothed with putties; holes and complex areas of the surface are filled with expanding foams and shaped to contour; and sheet metal is added where corrosion and rust have left extensive weakened areas in the surface. A corrosion inhibitor such as aluminum flakes or micaceous iron oxide is applied to the shaped surface followed by a structural coating of polyurea or elastomeric urethane and top coat of moisture cured urethane or polyaspartic acid that adds an additional water barrier and increases that surface shaping to shed water. The combination of these layers results in a surface with improved robustness against frequent cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20090277940
Abstract: A golf ball carrier for marking or identifying golf balls. The carrier has coaxially aligned openings receiving opposing hemispheres of each golf ball. Each opening allows for marking of each corresponding pole of the golf ball. The golf ball functions as a wedge spreading apart the carrier during insertion and removal of the golf ball from its engaged position with the carrier. While the carrier engages the opposing hemispheres of the golf ball, the user is able to rapidly mark the corresponding poles of each golf ball with the desired markings. The carrier may hold the marked golf balls until desired by the user.

  • Patent number: 5445648
Abstract: An improved surgical staple is disclosed wherein predetermined regions of the staple legs are weakened to cause bending and deformation of said legs in a controlled manner. The staple provides a uniform compression of a tissue into which it is inserted.

  • Patent number: 4345794
Abstract: A subterranean formation containing oil shale is prepared for in situ retorting by initially excavating a plurality of vertically spaced apart voids within a retort site, leaving an intervening zone of unfragmented formation between an adjacent pair of such voids. The intervening zone has substantially parallel upper and lower horizontal free faces adjoining the voids. At least one pancake-shaped load of explosive is placed in the intervening zone. The pancake-shaped explosive load has faces which are substantially parallel to the upper and lower free faces, and the length of the axis of the explosive load is less than the radius of the load. The explosive load is detonated for explosively expanding formation toward the upper and lower free faces for forming an in situ retort containing a fragmented permeable mass of formation particles.

  • Patent number: RE28848
Abstract: Slurry blasting compositions of low water content and high density, including substantial proportions of calcium nitrate as an oxidizer component, can be sensitized in various ways to produce economical explosive compositions. Sensitizers may include aluminum powder, granular explosives such as smokeless powder, TNT, etc.; a particularly preferred sensitizer or fuel is ethylene glycol. Solid carbonaceous fuels and conventional thickeners may be added. The calcium nitrate may be produced directly from burned lime with nitric acid and/or other nitrates.
