Patent number: 4404785Abstract: A partition assembly includes post cover plates for masking the lower portion of vertical, round posts disposed intermediate a plurality of elevated panels. The upper section of each post cover plate includes an arcuate segment having a curvature substantially mating that of the vertical post cylindrical walls while an attached lower section on the post cover plate is provided with an outer wall having lateral edges substantially aligned with the plane of the outer faces of the adjacent panel or panels. The post cover plates are installed with the lower sections disposed below the plane of the panel bottoms and are retained in position by the engagement of grooves adjacent the lower section lateral edges and the juxtaposed end edges of panel cover plates mounted beneath adjacent panels.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1981Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Richard W. McCracken, Melvin A. Textoris, Philip J. Williams

Patent number: 4270020Abstract: A wiring system for a partition assembly of a plurality of elevated panels attached to intermediate posts includes electrical assemblies mounted beneath at least a pair of panels. Each electrical assembly includes a fixed length housing provided with an outlet and at least one short flexible conduit extending from one end and a long flexible conduit extending from the other end with the conduits at the two ends of each housing terminating in mating connectors joined to the mating connectors from adjacent panel electrical assemblies. An enclosed raceway is formed by a pair of panel cover plates snap-fitted upon a pair of hanger members attached beneath each panel between the housing and panel edges. The raceway enclosure is completed by post cover plates slidably joined to adjacent panel cover plates beneath each post.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1979Date of Patent: May 26, 1981Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Max H. Kenworthy, Melvin A. Textoris

Patent number: 4255610Abstract: A wiring system for a partition assembly comprises a plurality of horizontally extending elongated wiring channels readily attachable to the outer face of adjacently disposed panels and supporting posts by means of one or more removable hanger assemblies juxtaposed each post. Each hanger assembly including at least one terminal section insertable in the end of an adjacent panel wiring channel and a medial section serving to support a post wiring channel. One or more wiring compartments within all of the wiring channels are longitudinally aligned with one another to provide continuous electrical raceways or compartments from one end of the assembly to the other and an interlocking effect is achieved between adjacent wiring channels by providing mitered end edges on the channels.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1978Date of Patent: March 10, 1981Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventor: Melvin A. Patent number: 4239932Abstract: A partition wiring system includes panels supported by either square or round posts and having electrical raceways beneath the panels with each containing a harness assembly provided with male and female connectors at opposite ends. Series of harness assemblies are joined to one another by mating male and female contacts to deliver current to electrical outlets contained in any one or all of the posts or alternatively, any one or all of the electrical raceways. Variably positionable contact elements on the male and female connectors allow the union of adjacent connectors whether the respective panels are disposed in a straight line or at right angles to one another in a system employing square posts and in a system utilizing round posts, additionally, all intermediate angles. The open bottom of each electrical raceway may be enclosed by either a slidable cover or a disparate telephone wiring raceway.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1979Date of Patent: December 16, 1980Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Melvin A. Textoris, Richard Rauschenberg

Patent number: 4229917Abstract: A strut support assembly for a partition system includes a retainer assembly projecting from beneath an upright and provided with a fastener receiving groove intermediate an enlarged medial section of the retainer assembly and the bottom of the upright. A removable strut assembly includes an arcuate attachment surface mating with the configuration of the upright exterior and a plurality of vertically spaced-apart horizontal cut-outs through the arcuate surface for the selective insertion of a U-bolt therethrough to captively engage the fastener receiving groove and rigidly attach the strut assembly relative the upright. The groove is of sufficient vertical extent to accommodate a second U-bolt for securing an additional oppositely disposed strut assembly to the same upright and the retainer assembly medial section includes an upwardly facing circular recess serving to receive and retain attachment structure carried by one or more panels of the partition system.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1979Date of Patent: October 28, 1980Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Melvin A. Textoris, Thomas L. Holman

Patent number: 4101166Abstract: A control mechanism for a tilt back chair includes a control body supported in a relatively stationary position by an integral vertical post member. A torsion unit is freely mounted between two flanges of the control body rearwardly of the post member and includes two spring-urged components respectively joined to a rearwardly extending tilt bracket and a forwardly extending tension lever. The tension lever includes a medial opening freely surrounding the post member and adjustment means acting upon its forward edge to vary the angular relationship between the tension lever and control body and thus the torque being applied to the tilt bracket.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1977Date of Patent: July 18, 1978Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Richard A. Rauschenberg, Melvin A. Textoris, Philip J. Williams

Patent number: 4041881Abstract: A table includes a top connected to a support assembly comprising a plurality of inverted U-shaped integral components formed from elongated stock. A plurality of such components, equal in number to the number of table legs, are joined in series to provide a unitary support assembly of continuous bar stock with the juxtaposed ends of each pair of adjacent components being joined to form one leg of the table.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1975Date of Patent: August 16, 1977Assignee: GF Business Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Melvin A.
