  • Publication number: 20220378470
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a cannula assembly having a tube with an internal lumen, a proximal end portion and a distal end portion configured for insertion into a patient. The cannula assembly further includes a housing rotatably coupled to the tube between a closed position and one or more open positions. The housing contains an electronic component comprising an image transmission device, such as a camera, for collecting and receiving images of the surgical site. The housing is adapted to provide the image transmission device with a longitudinal or forward view when the housing is in the closed position and a transverse view (i.e., offset from the longitudinal axis) when the housing is in one of the open positions. The housing is disposed distal to the proximal end portion and proximal to the distal end portion of the tube to protect the image transmission device as the distal end portion creates an incision and/or passes through an existing incision in the patient.

  • Patent number: 8834358
Abstract: A cannula assembly includes a tubular element forming a lumen, a deployable element of a subassembly, and an electronic component mounted to the deployable element. The tubular element has a proximal end and a distal end adapted to be inserted into a body cavity. The deployable element is coupled through the subassembly to the tubular element, and is adapted to transition between a closed position and an open position. The electronic component has at least one imaging device and at least one illumination source. The subassembly, including the deployable element and the electronic component, are releasable from the tubular element.

  • Patent number: 8439830
Abstract: A cannula assembly includes a tubular element forming a lumen, a deployable portion of the tubular element, and an electronic component mounted to the deployable portion of the tubular element. The tubular element has a proximal end and a distal end adapted to be inserted into a body cavity. The deployable portion of the tubular element is engaged near the distal end of the tubular element so as to transition between a closed position and an open position. The electronic component is at least partially disposed in the lumen when the deployable portion is in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20010048936
Abstract: A device for dispensing a skin treating agent on an appendage and its method of manufacture. The device having a first side with an inner surface and an outer surface, a second side with an inner surface and an outer surface, the first side and second side connected at an outer seal with the inner surfaces facing one another and forming a chamber for receiving and enclosing the appendage. The first and second sides having a perforated area which when torn apart creates an opening where the appendage is inserted into the chamber and a quantity of skin treating agent distributed in discrete areas on at least one of the inner surfaces of the chamber. A securing member enables the device to be secured to the appendage.

  • Patent number: 4611888
Abstract: A device for coupling a rigid surgical endoscope and a video camera has a compact, lightweight configuration which receives the endoscope without the conventional bulky endoscope eyepiece. The coupler has front and rear sections rotatable with respect to each other under a frictional drag to enable the endoscope and camera to be rotated either in unison or with respect to each other, so as to change the field of view of the endoscope or to change the orientation of the image on the screen of a video monitor, or both. The device includes sealing means to prevent fogging of the optics while enabling complete immersion of the endoscope, coupler and video camera, as a unit, in suitable liquid sterilization bath. The coupler also is adapted to accept endoscopes of various configurations.
