Publication number: 20030135751Abstract: The invention is a transaction terminal having an encryption mode apparatus comprising a secure information entry circuit and a secure mode indicator. The secure information entry circuit is operable to execute an encryption routine including steps that involve application of an encryption algorithm. Further included in the secure mode information entry circuit is cryptographic firmware which adapts the secure information entry circuit so that an encryption mode signal is caused to change state when an encryption routine is called. Publication number: 20030132294Abstract: A transaction terminal includes a touch screen and a control circuit. In a signature entry mode, the control circuit displays a signature entry area and monitors data input into the touch screen. If the input data corresponds to the signature capture area, the control circuit displays a data point corresponding to the valid input data. If the input data does not correspond to the signature capture area the control circuit, in one embodiment superimposes a prompt message on displayed signature data until the control circuit receives valid data.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2002Publication date: July 17, 2003Applicant: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Garrison Gomez, Timothy R. Publication number: 20030127516Abstract: According to the invention, a multilayered image sensor is back mounted to a plate, and the plate in turn, is installed in a holding pocket of a device. In that the scheme takes advantage of a high controllability of a mounting plate's thickness, the mounting scheme provides a tight control of holding forces with which an image sensor is secured in an imaging device. In that the scheme provides for back mounting of image sensor on a planar surface, the mounting system provides tight control of an imaging assembly's pixel plane to fixed point in space distance.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2003Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert J. Hennick, Michael P. Lacey, Robert C. Hinkley, Melvin D. McCall

Publication number: 20030062413Abstract: An imaging module in one embodiment includes at least one multiple color emitting light source comprising a plurality of different colored LED dies each independently driveable so that the overall color emitted by the light source can be controlled and varied. The multiple color emitting light source can be controlled so that the color emitted by the light source is optimized for imaging or reading in a present application environment of the module. Further, the module can be configured so that control of the multiple color emitting light source automatically varies depending on a sensed condition, such a color present in a field of view of the module, the distance of the module to a target, and/or a predetermined criteria being met so that feedback is provided to a user. The module in a further aspect can include illumination light sources and aiming light sources which project light in different wavelength emission bands.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2002Publication date: April 3, 2003Applicant: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert C.
