  • Patent number: 5499787
Abstract: A bag holder for supporting an open-ended bag of flexible material in position for filling, comprising a plurality of separate segments configured to be releasably joined together to form a ring member having an external, bag contacting surface. Legs are provided for supporting the ring member in a substantially horizontal attitude slightly above ground level. Each of the separate segments constituting the ring member is essentially flat and of elongate, slightly curved construction, with each segment having first and second ends equipped with joinder devices that are able to be readily interfitted. The first end of a first segment is joinable with the second end of a second segment, and the first end of the second segment is joinable with the second end of a third segment, with such joinder of first and second ends of the segments continuing until the completed ring member of sturdy construction is defined.

  • Patent number: 5421066
Abstract: A self-locking tensioning bar usable for tightening a cord utilized to encircle a relatively large object, such tensioning bar being elongate and having first and second ends, with a longitudinally disposed slot disposed in the first end. A spaced pair of holes for receiving the cord are disposed in an offset relationship in the bar, with one of the cord-receiving holes located near the outer end of the slot, and consequently near the first end of the tensioning bar. One end of the cord is secured in the one cord-receiving hole, with the cord then extending around the relatively large object, and thence back through the other cord-receiving hole. The cord is brought to an initial degree of tension while the bar is residing in a substantially perpendicular relationship to the object, with the first end of the bar closely adjacent the large object, following which the cord is then anchored to maintain such initial degree of tension.

  • Patent number: 4401242
Abstract: A hopper discharge apparatus for delivering the contents of a hopper from a hopper side port to alternative delivery points directly under and alongside the hopper utilizing a center delivery chute for directing the hopper contents to the delivery point under the hopper and a side delivery chute for directing the hopper contents either to the delivery point alongside the hopper or to the center delivery chute. Both chutes are movable, optionally about a common pivot point, for storage when not in use.

  • Patent number: 4215569
Abstract: A water brake dynamometer includes a water brake having a stator housing with a rotor disc mounted on a through shaft. Water from a reservoir is directed into the housing as the shaft and rotor are driven by an external engine. Means are provided to measure the torque transferred from the rotor to the stator housing. An adjustable, unitary valve mechanism controls the rate water is directed into the housing from the reservoir and removed from the housing for return to the reservoir. The valve mechanism includes a single stem having multiple valve members operated by a single hydraulic piston control.

  • Patent number: 4213332
Abstract: A water brake dynamometer includes a water brake having a stator housing with a rotor disc mounted on a through shaft. Water is pumped into the interior of the housing as the shaft and rotor are driven by an external engine. Momentum interaction transfers force between the rotor and stator housing. The planar surfaces of the opposing surfaces of the rotor housing are substantially identical as are those of the stator. A measuring device has been provided to measure the torque transferred from the rotor to the stator housing.

  • Patent number: 4201081
Abstract: A pressure responsive sensing device includes a housing defining a chamber. The chamber is filled with a non-compressible fluid and is closed at one end by a diaphragm. The diaphragm is retained in position by a cover plate. A stem connected to the outside of the cover plate projects through a bearing passage and has an outer end exposed to receive a force. A force on the end of the stem is transmitted via the plate and diaphragm against the fluid in the chamber. The pressure in the chamber, in turn, is transmitted ,o an electronic transducer sensing device through a constricted passage in the wall of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4005907
Abstract: A wheel mounting assembly for mounting an auxiliary wheel to a vehicle wheel includes an annular ring which is positioned in a stepped groove adjacent an edge of the rim of the auxiliary wheel and a lug member which is formed integrally with the ring and which overlies and contacts the rim of the auxiliary wheel. In one embodiment of the invention, a hooked member extends from the ring and hooks underneath the rim of the auxiliary wheel to counterbalance the forces exerted on the ring and rim when the connecting member which connects the auxiliary wheel with the vehicle mounted wheel is tensioned. In another embodiment of the invention, spokes extend between diametrically opposite lug members to counterbalance forces exerted upon the ring and rim when the connecting member is tensioned.
