  • Patent number: 4381105
Abstract: There is disclosed a clamp which is particularly adapted for use in high-temperature applications in which arms bearing clamping faces are mounted on a flat bar in a manner such that they can be released to slide along the bar and clamped in any desired position. One arm has a fixed clamping face and the other arm has a movable clamping face movable toward the other. The latter is affixed to the free end of an elongate member adapted to reciprocate back and forth in the other arm and to be moved toward the first clamping face by a spiral cam. Means is provided for locking the arms to the backbone member and for locking the spiral cam in the clamping position.

  • Patent number: 4336927
Abstract: There is provided a light-weight jam clamp in which the clamp is set by a tool and released by the same, or another tool. The tool forces one element of the clamp down against the work piece and causes it to jam on another element of the clamp. The setting tool can be an expansion bit pliers or a contraction bit pliers and the releasing tool is an expansion bit pliers. One face of the other element has serried lands to effect a positive jam action and prevent accidental dislodgment of the jam.

  • Patent number: 4258908
Abstract: A chela-form clamp in which clamping action is effected by the thrust of an elongate member on a thrust block journaled in one leg of the clamp characterized by conical surfaces between the thrust block and the thrust end of the elongate member and a steel ball between them having circle contact with the conical surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4245827
Abstract: A hold-down clamp comprises a base member adapted to be affixed to the bed of a machine tool, a clamping face adapted to clamp a work piece thereto, a vertical member rigidly affixed to the base member, a dogleg-shaped arm having one end pivoted to a mid-point in said vertical member and the other end to said clamping face, and an elongated screw between the upper end of the vertical member and the knee of the dogleg for moving the clamping face to and from the work piece.

  • Patent number: 4234176
Abstract: A quick release clamp which comprises a U-shaped frame formed by two stampings spaced apart and held together in a unitary structure by means of spacers and rivets. In one arm of the frame, a screw block is anchored in which an elongated screw member is threaded and has on its inner end a clamping face. In the opposite arm a similar elongated threaded member is threaded through a block and has on its end a clamping face which is apposed to the first clamping face. In this latter case the block into which the elongated screw member is threaded is pivoted in the frame so that the clamping face can be swung away from alignment with the other clamping face.

  • Patent number: 4183512
Abstract: A clamping apparatus is actuated to clamping position by a reciprocating elongated member having a clutch mechanism which either permits or does not permit reciprocation of the elongate member according to the rotative position of the elongate member in the clutch and a screw means for advancing the clamping face when the unit formed by the clutch in engagement with the elongate member is rotated. The clutch is designed so that it does not disengage until after a workpiece is unclamped.
