    Abstract: The invention is a system for detecting the presence of an intruder in a passageway. In detail, the system includes at least one capacitance probe for mounting on the wall of the passageway, the probe including a sensing member in the form of a rod extending into the passageway, the number, spacing and length of the sensing members sufficient to detect an intruder attempting to pass through the passageway.
