In some configurations the building units include a body, at least one surface having a nonporous structure, and at least one surface having an exposed microporous suction structure. Some embodiments also include a computing device such as a computer or television including a display device having a nonporous surface. The computing device generates a user interface to interact with the user. The user interface guides the user in constructing a three dimensional structure for the building units on a nonporous surface of the display device.

The display system includes multiple display portions where each portion subsumes at least a portion of the two dimensional image. The display portions are arranged in a nested stacked and spaced arrangement, such that the portions of the two dimensional image depicted on the display portions are congruent.

Abstract: The invention provides cell-adherent polymeric coatings for articles having a nanofibrillar structure. The coatings include a synthetic, non-biodegradable polymer having at least one pendent amine group, wherein the polymer is covalently immobilized on the article via latent reactive groups. The invention also provides methods for the long term culturing of cells using the polymer coated nanofibrillar structures. The polymer coated nanofibrillar structures of the invention have been found to be particularly useful for the growth and differentiation of cells, including neural precursors.
