Abstract: The invention relates to new antimicrobial compounds derived from nisin. In particular, the compounds are based on the unsubstituted nisin [1-12] structure, wherein said compounds have an antimicrobial activity exceeding the activity of the unsubstituted nisin [1-12] structure.
