Abstract: A method of sending a medical data file from an external device to a computer system and storing the data file associated with a patient's identity, comprising: a) the computer system receiving information that a data file to be sent to the computer system from the external device (or from one of a set of external devices) is to be associated with the patient's identity; b) sending the data file from the external device to the computer system, with the data file identified as coming from the external device; c) the computer system finding the patient's identity from the identification of the image file as coming from the external device, and from the information that a data file to be associated with the patient's identity was to be sent from that external device; and d) the computer system storing the data file, associating the data file with the patient's identity.

Abstract: A method of automatically assigning each of a plurality of medical imaging cases for reading by one of a plurality of readers, comprising: receiving the medical imaging cases; listing each case, at different times, on worklists displayed to one or more readers who are allowed to choose the case for reading at that time; receiving information on choices of cases by the readers; and assigning cases to readers who choose them; wherein for at least some of the cases, initially only a portion of the readers are allowed to choose the case, but over time, as the case becomes more urgent to read, the case is escalated a first time by adding one or more other readers who are allowed to choose the case, and over further time, if the case is still not read, the case is escalated at least one additional time.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically adding connectors, for example through insertion, to a medical report. The connectors may optionally be added after the medical report is generated but are preferably adding while the medical report is being generated, so that medical personnel can review the addition of such connectors during medical report generation.

Abstract: A method for providing an imaging study at a client terminal. The method comprises receiving a request for an imaging study from a client terminal connected to a first system of a plurality of medical imaging systems and identifying a destination of a device hosting the requested imaging study. The device is disparately connected to a second system of the plurality of medical imaging systems. The method further comprises acquiring the imaging study from the hosting device using the destination and forwarding the imaging study to the client terminal.

Abstract: A method of compressing a medical image, including: providing a medical diagnostic image, having associated therewith at least one windowing parameter; automatically selecting a desired compression quality, responsive to the at least one windowing parameter; and compressing the image, using a lossy compression method, such that a decompressed image will have substantially the desired compression quality. Preferably, the at least one windowing parameter is provided by an imaging technician. Preferably, the compression method is a wavelet compression method.
