Patent number: 9510263Abstract: A method of enhancing handover by using chain handover over a wireless connection, for use in a plurality of moving devices, is introduced. In the method, a control message is received by one of a plurality of moving devices. A report message is transmitted by the one of the plurality of moving devices, in which the one of the plurality of moving devices sets in a state for group handover and represents all others of the plurality of moving devices for a handover decision. It is determined that a part or all of the plurality of moving devices are allowed to perform the group handover according to the report message. The part or all of the plurality of moving devices allowed to perform the group handoversequentially perform a handover procedure after receiving a reconfiguration message.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2013Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Meng-Shiuan Pan, Tzu-Ming Lin

Patent number: 8934906Abstract: A method, a mobile relay using the same and a DeNB using the same are proposed. The present disclosure reduces the time required to perform wireless service handover by detecting the movement status of the mobile relay relative to a candidate DeNB as to determine whether a mobile relay is approaching or leaving a candidate handover DeNB. By incorporating the movement status into a report sent to the serving DeNB, the serving DeNB would require less time to make handover decisions since the reporting interval could be reduced to one interval, and the time to trigger would not be required. The movement status could be determined based on the propagation time of signals, a list of neighbor cell information, or the Doppler effect.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2012Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Meng-Shiuan Pan, Tzu-Ming Lin

Patent number: 8149803Abstract: An apparatus for a beacon-enabled wireless network, a transmission time determination method, and a tangible machine-readable medium thereof are provided. The apparatus is located within the coverage area of the first equipment. The second equipment is located within the coverage area of the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a receive/transmission module and a decision module. The receive/transmission module is configured to receive the beacon of the first equipment. The decision module is configured to decide information of an upload time slot and a download time slot of the apparatus according to the beacon so that the receive/transmission module can perform data transmission with the first equipment by the upload time slot and perform data transmission with the second equipment by the download time slot. According to the aforementioned allocations, transmission collisions can be avoided and delay of transmission times is decreased.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2007Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Institute for Information IndustryInventors: Meng-Shiuan Pan, Lun-Wu Yeh, Yu-Chee Tseng, Li-Chun Ko, Hua-Wei Fang, Chi-Wen Teng

Patent number: 8134964Abstract: A network address assigning and allocating method and a routing method for a long-thin wireless network are provided. First, a plurality of nodes in the long-thin wireless network is classified into a plurality of clusters, in which nodes ranging from a child node of a bridge node to a next bridge node are classified as the same cluster. Then, a network address is assigned to each of the nodes, in which the network address includes a cluster ID and a node ID, the cluster ID is used for identifying the clusters and for routing a packet between the clusters, and the node ID is used for identifying the nodes in each of the clusters and for routing a packet in the cluster. Thereby, the routing and network transmitting efficiency of the long-thin wireless network can be improved.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2008Date of Patent: March 13, 2012Assignee: Institute for Information IndustryInventors: Meng-Shiuan Pan, Hua-Wei Fang, Yung-Chih Liu, Yu-Chee Tseng
