Abstract: A method of showing a TV channel menu includes the following steps. Firstly, an audience evaluation data including a first audience rating of a first TV program and a second audience rating of a second TV program is received. Then, the TV channel menu is opened. Afterwards, the TV channel menu including a first displaying block corresponding to the first TV program and a second displaying block corresponding to the second TV program is shown on a screen. If the first audience rating is higher than the second audience rating, the first display block has a higher conspicuous degree than the second displaying block.

Abstract: A scheduled task executing method is used in a computer system and a peripheral device. The computer system has a time generator for generating time information and a memory. When the computer system is in a working state, a user input interface is provided, a scheduled time is set via the user input interface, and the scheduled time is automatically stored in the memory. When the computer system is in a power off state, electricity is continuously supplied to the time generator and the memory. If the time information and the scheduled time comply with a specified relation, a power control signal is generated. In response to the power control signal, the computer is switched from the power off state to the working state. When the computer system is in the working status, the peripheral device is activated to execute a scheduled task item corresponding to the scheduled time.

Abstract: A video reproducing/recording and playing system and a method thereof for setting and playing video sections are provided. The system includes a host computer with a data buffer and a database, a video module, and a monitor. While continuously receiving video signals, the video module sets a first section index when a scene difference between a first frame and a second frame represented by a portion of the video signals is greater than a predetermined scene difference wherein the first section index points to a start time of the second frame. Then, the video module stores the first section index and stores the video signals corresponding to the second frame into the data buffer. After retrieving the first section index, the monitor presents the video signals from the second frame points by the first section index.

Abstract: In a signal pickup method for a video recording and playing system, a signal is continuously received and stored in a data buffer of the video recording and playing system. Then, in response to an operation of a control device of the video recording and playing system, a pickup start point and a pickup end point are determined, thereby locating a first data address corresponding to the pickup start point and a second data address corresponding to the pickup end point in the data buffer. Afterward, the data between the first data address and the second data address are saved into a new file.

Abstract: In a signal pickup method of a video/audio recording and playing system, a recording length and a tracing-back length are preset. An external signal is received and storing into a buffer of the video/audio recording and playing system. A designated section of the external signal is automatically picked up from the buffer according to the recording length and the tracing-back length in response to a triggering operation of a user.
