    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the preservation of sperm from abalone, in particular green abalone, Haliotis discus hannai and red abalone, H. rufescens: consisting in mixing the sperm with cryoprotectant containing propylene glycol, sucrose and egg yolk; freezing the sperm with cryoprotectant down to a temperature of approximately ?40° C.; and storing same in liquid nitrogen. The method also includes the thawing of the sperm samples.
