  • Patent number: 11609099
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for selecting points of interest (POIs) to include in navigation maneuvers presented by a navigation application of an electronic device. Navigation directions, including several maneuvers, are generated by a server device. Candidate POIs near locations corresponding to each of the maneuvers are identified and the server device receives requests from third parties that own each of the candidate POIs. The server device selects one of the candidate POIs for each maneuver based on the requests from the third parties. The server device provides the navigation directions, including an indication of the selected POI for a corresponding maneuver, to the client device of the user who requested the navigation directions.

  • Publication number: 20220187083
Abstract: A technique for generating navigation routes includes obtaining route data indicative of multiple routes between respective starting locations and destinations, previously traversed by a user (702). The technique further includes identifying, using map data, route segments of a first type and at least one other type within the multiple routes, to generate route segment data (704) and determining, using the route data and the route segment data, a quantitative metric to measure a trade-off between a property of route segments of the first type route and a property of route segments of the at least one other type in selection of navigation routes by the user (706). After an indication of a starting location and a destination is received (708), the technique includes generating a navigation route between the starting location and the destination for the user, including applying the quantitative metric to constrain selections of route segments (710).

Candidate POIs near locations corresponding to each of the maneuvers are identified and the server device receives requests from third parties that own each of the candidate POIs. The server device selects one of the candidate POIs for each maneuver based on the requests from the third parties and additionally based on the visibility of each of the candidate POIs from the location of the maneuver or the distance between the location of each of the candidate POIs and the location of the maneuver. The server device provides the navigation directions, including an indication of the selected POI for a corresponding maneuver, to the client device of the user who requested the navigation directions.

  • Patent number: 10401182
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating restriction-based navigation directions to avoid areas having location-dependent driving restrictions. An electronic device receives a user request for navigation directions from an origin location to a destination location. The electronic device determines multiple sets of navigation directions between the origin location and the destination location, and compares each set of navigation directions to locations associated with driving restrictions to identify driving restrictions that apply to the user's request for navigation directions. Based on rules associated with an identified driving restriction, and user-provided information related to the identified driving restriction, the electronic device determines whether the identified driving restriction applies to the user.

  • Patent number: 9553863
Abstract: A communication service accessible on a web that authenticates user credential information of a first user to authorize a request in order to perform a communication with at least a second user; the first user requesting to the communication service to generate a hyperlink that is associated to its address and provides the generated hyperlink to at least a second user; the latter requesting to initiate said requested communication with said first user by directly clicking on said provided hyperlink, wherein the identity of said at least second user is maintained anonymous and the identity of said first user is done based on the information provided on said hyperlink; said communication between said at least second user and said first user being authorized by and a first server.
