  • Publication number: 20180241521
Abstract: A node for managing cell coordination is provided. The node includes processing circuitry including a processor, and a memory. The memory contains instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to determine a cluster of a plurality of cells including a first cell, the cluster of the plurality of cells having a plurality of antennas and determine a channel state information reference signal, CSI-RS, configuration corresponding to a total number of the plurality of antennas. The memory further includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to partition radio resources corresponding to the CSI-RS configuration into a plurality of partitioned radio resources, and cause the first cell to transmit at least one CSI-RS signal according to a first partition of the plurality of partitioned radio resources while muting the radio resources of the remaining plurality of partitioned resources.

  • Publication number: 20180192366
Abstract: A method and system for adaptively powering down cells within a cluster are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes detecting when a load on a first cell falls below a first predetermined threshold, the load being based at least in part on a number of wireless devices in communication with a first radio unit serving the first cell. Upon detecting when a load on the first cell falls below the first predetermined threshold, a transmitter of the first radio unit is powered down over a period of time to allow time for handoff of wireless devices in the first cell to a second radio unit serving an adjacent cell.

  • Patent number: 9628229
Abstract: A method and system for determining whether to apply an inter-cell coordination procedure for a UE in the presence of inter-cell interference from cells, the cells including a serving cell and a plurality of interfering cells, are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes receiving measurements of uplink signal quality of the UE from the cells. The method also includes calculating a combined metric based on the received uplink signal quality measurements. The combined metric is compared to a serving cell threshold to determine whether to implement the inter-cell coordination procedure.

  • Patent number: 9572115
Abstract: A method and device for determining whether to send a measurement report to a serving cell and determining when an inter-cell coordination procedure is likely to achieve coordination gain are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes performing received signal quality measurements of the serving cell and a plurality of neighboring cells. The method also includes calculating a UE metric based on the received signal quality measurements of a plurality of interfering cells and based on a scaling parameter. The method further includes comparing the calculated UE metric to a threshold to determine whether to send the measurement report to the serving cell.

  • Publication number: 20150172988
Abstract: A node and method for communication with a user equipment, UE, are provided. The source node includes at least one processor configured to cause transmission of a first handover command message to the UE. The first handover command message includes first configuration information for handover to a target node. At least one receiver is configured to receive second configuration information from the target node after transmission of the first handover command message to the UE. The at least one processor is further configured to cause transmission of a second handover command message to the UE. The second handover command message includes the second configuration information received from the target node. The first configuration information is configured to be used in combination with the second configuration information to allow the UE to access the target node for handover.
