  • Patent number: 4087319
Abstract: A continuously advancing tissue paper web is separated from a Yankee dryer roll and creper, and then received and transported on an endless fabric conveyor and embossing belt travelling toward and over a reel drum. At the reeling station the web is threaded onto a reel spool and wound into a parent roll pressing against the conveyor and embossing belt running over the reel drum and thereby embossing the web in the roll/drum nip. Means are provided for automatically air threading the web onto the reel spool. For higher bulk tissue creped sheet, additional dry embossing may be effected while the sheet is being transported by the conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 4086131
Abstract: A method and mechanism for forming a continuous traveling web from bagasse fibers including forming a web between a pair of looped traveling wires to dewater from both sides of the formed web, lifting the formed web off of one of the wires and immediately passing the web through a first press nip sandwiched between two press felts with the web continually being supported between the forming wire and first nip, carrying the web on the upper side of one of the felts to a second nip and passing the web between two felts in the second nip, bringing the web to a dryness of at least 30% in the first two double felted nips, transferring the web onto a plain roll and passing it through third and fourth nips on the plain roll with felts outwardly of the web and removing the web from the plain roll to transfer it to a dryer section.

  • Patent number: 4036684
Abstract: A web pickup and drying apparatus in a papermaking machine for producing a high bulk paper tissue web while carrying the web throughout its travel from pickup off the forming wire through the drying stages on the surface of a fabric, felt or dryer roll. After pickup, the web is first subjected to a thru-air (transpiration) dryer from which it is applied to the surface of a large diameter dryer roll. There is no conventional press section to reduce bulk before the web is dry.
