    Abstract: Vertical storage systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a vertical storage system includes a first chamber, a second chamber adjacent to the first chamber, a vertical lift module or vertical carousel positioned in the first and second chambers. The first chamber is configured to store items at a first temperature, and the second chamber has an operating temperature different than the first temperature. The vertical lift module or vertical carousel has a first portion positioned in the first chamber and a second portion positioned in the second chamber.
