Abstract: A device and method for use with a centrifuge for fragmenting solute or particulate material contained in a liquid sample are disclosed. The device includes a substrate adapted to be supported within a centrifuge tube, and providing a microchannel defining a plurality of shear regions. Material contained in a liquid sample applied to the device, with such supported in a centrifuge tube within a centrifuge, is fragmented by shearing as the sample is forced successively through the plurality of shear regions in the microchannel, when the selected centrifugal force applied to the tube.

Abstract: Biological systems are modeled using formal languages and theorem provers and model checkers and term rewriting systems. The models include rules that express a substitution of at least one symbol by at least another symbol. The symbols represent elements of the biological system, and the rules are expressed in a manner that, for example, enables an inference engine to infer alternative results from the system based on an initial hypothetical state.

Abstract: The present invention relates, inter alia, to compounds that bind tubulin and exhibit anti-mitotic properties and to methods of using such compounds to inhibit abnormal cell mitosis and, in particular, to inhibit tumor cell growth. In addition, methods are presented of treating mammalian diseases associated with undesired and uncontrolled angiogenesis.
