  • Patent number: 6150301
Abstract: The harvesting of fruit, in particular olives and citrus fruit, is aided by inducing abscission by applying to fruit-bearing parts of the plant certain imidazolinone or sulfonylurea compounds. The compounds are applied in aqueous solution or in extremely low concentration in amounts ranging from 15 to 200 ppm, preferably from 20 to 70 ppm, by spraying to the point of incipient run-off.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 27, 1998
Date of Patent: November 21, 2000
Inventors: Merrill Wilcox, John B. Taylor
  • Patent number: 6143694
Abstract: A method of aiding in ripening and curing tobacco by application to the tobacco plant of an effective amount of a compound selected from a group comprising imidazolinones; sulfonylureas; triazolopyrimidinesulfonanilides; and pyrimidinylthiobenzoic acids and related compounds.

  • Patent number: 4052194
Abstract: A method of aiding in harvesting fruit wherein abscission is induced by application to the fruit bearing plant of an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR1## or a salt thereof, wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, phenylalkyl or furyl, R.sub.2 is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, carboxy, carbalkoxy, carbanilido, heterocyclic or a group ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 ' has the same meanings as R.sub.1, n is an integer from 0 to 3, and wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 when taken together form a C.sub.3 -C.sub.12 ring and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkylcarbonyl, phenylcarbonyl, N-alkylcarbamoyl, N-alkylthiocarbamoyl, N,N-dialkylcarbamoyl, phenylcarbamoyl, phenylalkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, phenylalkoxycarbonyl, alkylthiocarbonyl, phenylthiocarbonyl, .alpha.-furyl and tetrahydropyranyl.
