  • Publication number: 20040170779
Abstract: The present invention relates to an ink jet ink, an ink jet recording material or an ink jet system comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a) the dialkyl hydroxylamine stabilizers, b) the nitrone stabilizers and c) the amine oxide stabilizers. The present stabilizer compounds provide ink jet prints with outstanding light stability, gas fade stability and dark storage stability. The hydroxylamines are for example N,N-dihydrocarbylhydroxylamines of the formula R1R2N—OH, wherein R1 and R2 are independently benzyl, methyl, ethyl, octyl, lauryl, dodecyl, tetradecyl, hexadecyl, heptadecyl or octadecyl, or wherein R1 and R2 are each the alkyl mixture found in hydrogenated tallow amine. The nitrone and amine oxide stabilizers are for example nitrone and amine oxide analogues of the dialkylhydroxylamine stabilizers.

  • Patent number: 6774238
Abstract: Compounds of formula I or II where R is an aryl moiety, such as phenyl, naphthyl or biphenylyl, or is phenyl substituted by one or more trifluoromethyl, bromo or cyano, and E1 and E2 are independently hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl and the like are prepared by reaction of a benzotriazole substituted on the 5-position of the benzo ring by a halogen atom with a arylboronic acid or ester in the presence of a transition-metal catalyst, such as palladium(II) diacetate. The benzotriazole compounds of formula I are particularly efficacious as stabilizers for automotive coatings and candle wax.

  • Publication number: 20040138452
Abstract: Hindered amine compounds which are substituted by a long hydrocarbon chain are useful in a number of applications where the solubility or compatibility afforded by said substitution is needed. This is seen particularly for example with white, dyed, dipped, unscented and/or scented candle wax which is effectively stabilized against discoloration and fading by the incorporation therein of a long chain hindered amine alone or in combination with a UV absorber and/or an antioxidant.

  • Patent number: 6605727
Abstract: Provided is a process for preparing 2H-benzotriazole UV absorbers containing a perfluoroalkyl moiety at the 5-position of the benzo ring, for example a trifluoromethyl group, which involves diazotizing the perfluoroalkyl substituted o-nitroaniline using concentrated sulfuric acid plus sodium nitrite or nitrosylsulfuric acid to form the corresponding monoazobenzene intermediate via the diazonium salt intermediate which is reduced to the corresponding 5-perfluoroalkyl substituted 2H-benzotriazole UV absorber compound by conventional reduction means. Also provided is a novel one-pot, multiphase reaction for the preparation of 2(2-nitrophenylazo) substituted phenols, which are precursors for 2H-benzotriazole UV absorbers.
