  • Patent number: 7255142
Abstract: A fuel nozzle guard, in some embodiments, comprises a static control material. When a consumer grabs the fuel nozzle, his or her hand will touch the static control material, thereby, safely dissipating any electrostatic charges at a controlled rate of discharge without a spark. The fuel nozzle guard, in some embodiments, slides onto the nozzle interfacing with the nozzle so that retaining edges secure the fuel nozzle guard to the nozzle, without removing the nozzle from its hose. The material, in some embodiments, lacks plastisol and allows labels to adhere directly to it.

  • Patent number: 6123123
Abstract: A system for dispensing a fluid from a first tank into a second tank, in which one of the tanks is attached to a vehicle. The system comprises a flexible, stretchable, resilient delivery hose, a first end of the delivery hose being connected to the first tank and a second end of the delivery hose being attached to a nozzle adapted to dispense the fluid into the second tank. A flexible tension element is provided between first and second fittings on the hose, the fittings being separated by at least six feet (two meters), the tension element substantially eliminating stretching of the delivery hose between the fittings. The tension element substantially reduces damage to the hose and to surrounding persons and objects when the hose is pulled and released as in a drive-away from a gasoline dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5067533
Abstract: A fluid dispensing nozzle for gasoline or the like includes a cast body having an inlet, an outlet, a valve seat between the inlet and the outlet, and a hand guard. Mounted in and on the cast body are a poppet valve for controlling flow through the valve seat, a spring urging the poppet valve closed, a valve stem extending into the poppet valve, a cast lever engaging the valve stem for manually urging the poppet valve away from its seat, and a high-level shut-off means for disabling the lever. The high level shut-off means includes a plunger to which the actuating lever for the nozzle is pivoted, a latch pin, latching balls, and a cylindrical sleeve which acts as a guide for the plunger and as a stop for the latching balls. A hold-open clip is pivoted to the integral hand guard and engages latching teeth on the lever. Release of the high-level shut-off causes a heel portion of the lever to force the clip out of engagement with the teeth.

  • Patent number: 4487238
Abstract: A fluid dispensing nozzle for gasoline or the like includes a valve seat, a poppet valve for controlling flow through the valve seat, a spring urging the poppet valve closed, a valve stem extending into the poppet valve, a handle engaging the valve stem for manually urging the poppet valve away from its seat and a high-level shut-off means for disabling the handle. The poppet valve assembly is constructed to lift one side of the poppet when the handle is initially lifted.

  • Patent number: 4378824
Abstract: A fluid dispensing nozzle for dispensing gasoline includes a main valve, an actuating lever for operating the main valve, a plastic plunger to which the actuating lever for the nozzle is pivoted, and a sleeve slidably mounted on the lower end of the plunger for preventing breakage of the plunger. The sleeve includes a yoke part which surrounds both the end of the plunger and the end of the lever. A cast hand guard surrounds the yoke.
