    Abstract: A solid state circuit for cycling the refrigerant compressor of an automotive air conditioning system on and off in accordance with a refrigerant vapor condition and for detecting the duration of compressor energization periods as an indication of low refrigerant charge. If a condition of low refrigerant charge is detected, the compressor is disabled and an instrument panel lamp is lit to notify the operator of the vehicle of the low refrigerant charge condition.
