  • Patent number: 4498898
Abstract: A centrifugal oil cleaner assembly adapted to be mounted on a support at its upper end and to depend from the support, the assembly comprising a first housing member, a second housing member sealingly engageable with the upper end of the first housing member to form a chamber, a substantially vertical shaft mounted in the chamber, a rotor carried by the shaft and within the chamber, the shaft serving to releasably secure the first housing member to the second housing member by means of a screwthread connection and to carry the weight of the first housing member and the rotor, means for supplying oil to be cleaned under pressure through the second housing member to the interior of the rotor, said means including a passageway in the upper end of the shaft, jets to discharge oil from the rotor into the chamber and by reaction cause the rotor to rotate, and an oil outlet for removing oil from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4400167
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for separating contaminants from contaminated fluids comprising shroud means defining a first chamber, bearing means within the shroud means, a hollow rotor rotatably carried by the bearing means, said hollow rotor defining a second chamber for receiving contaminated fluid directly from an inlet passage passing through said bearing means, and connecting an inlet port at the upper end of the shroud means with the upper end of said second chamber, means to rotate said rotor and thereby cause contaminants in the contaminated fluid within said second chamber to migrate towards a side wall of said second chamber under the influence of centrifugal force and to be separated from such contaminated fluid, said means to rotate said rotor comprising outlet reaction port means in said rotor in fluid communication with said second chamber to cause said rotor to rotate upon discharge of fluid from said second chamber to said first chamber and outlet port means for discharging fluid from the bottom o

  • Patent number: 4288030
Abstract: A disposable, centrifugal separator of the kind shown, for example, in U.S. Pat. No. 4,106,689 is modified and simplified in that the rotor is made of sheet metal from which bearings are pressed out. These bearings are journaled on fixed stub axles at respective ends of the outer casing, the stub axles also preferably being of pressed out sheet metal.
