  • Patent number: 8695139
Abstract: A washing machine, including a bubble generator, which is capable of removing a wash residue left in a drum and a water tub through the operation of the bubble generator, and a control method thereof. In the washing machine, the bubble generator is operated simultaneously with the start of drainage to create a swift current in drainage water, thereby dissolving detergent waste left in the drum and the water tub and shaking a wash residue (nap, foreign matter, etc.) such that the wash residue is discharged together with the drainage water, to surely remove the wash residue from the drum and the water tub.

  • Publication number: 20100132127
Abstract: A washing machine and a control method thereof that are capable of improving washing and rinsing efficiencies of large-volume laundry (for example, bedclothes). When large-volume laundry is washed and rinsed, a drum is accelerated to a predetermined velocity such that the laundry clings to the drum, and therefore, wash liquid (or water) comes into uniform contact with the entire surface of the laundry while the laundry widely spreads, is stopped such that the laundry is separated from the drum, and is rotated in alternating directions to change the position of the laundry such that a surface of the laundry contacting the wash liquid (or the water) is turned, and therefore, even contaminants inside the laundry are removed.

  • Publication number: 20080216249
Abstract: Disclosed are a washing machine having a drying device, which performs a spin-drying operation at a maximally low RPM and supplies cold air to clothes in a delicate course so as to minimize damage to the clothes and improve rinsing and spin-drying efficiencies, and a method for controlling spin-drying of the washing machine. The method for controlling spin-drying of the washing machine, which has a rotary drum for containing clothes, a motor for rotating the rotary drum, and a fan for circulating air into the rotary drum, includes determining whether or not a delicate course is selected; performing low-speed spin-drying in which the rotary drum is rotated at a low speed by operating the motor at a low RPM, when it is determined that the delicate course is selected; and supplying cold air to the inside of the rotary drum by operating the fan together with the low-speed spin-drying.

  • Patent number: 7230394
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a motor in a washing machine, which includes a speed sensor for measuring speed of the motor, and a controller that compares the measured speed with a target speed to estimate a motor power applied to the motor, adjusts a running rate of the motor according to the comparison, and controls the motor according to the adjusted running rate. The motor power is estimated based on the motor speed, and the running rate is adjusted down if the estimated motor power is too high, thereby preventing overheating of the motor and an inverter, which may be caused in wash or rinse cycles. The apparatus can be implemented without using a temperature sensor, thereby reducing economic burden. Further, the motor does not stop due to an increase in the temperature of the motor, thereby preventing an unnecessary increase in the time required to complete washing.
