  • Publication number: 20220331112
Abstract: Provided herein are cranial implant devices that include at least one acoustic, optical, and/or photoacoustic lens element comprising one or more electromagnetically translucent, electromagnetically transparent, sonolucent, and/or acoustically active materials. The cranial implant devices are structured for subgaleal scalp implantation within, beneath, and/or over at least one cranial opening of a subject and typically includes a substantially anatomically-compatible shape. In addition, the cranial implant devices permit transcranial therapeutic ultrasound, transcranial diagnostic ultrasound, photoacoustic imaging, electromagnetic wave diagnostic imaging, and/or electromagnetic wave therapeutic intervention of intracranial matter of the subject via the acoustic, optical, and/or photoacoustic lens element when the cranial implant device is subgalealy implanted within, beneath, and/or over the cranial opening of the subject.

  • Publication number: 20220133263
Abstract: An implantable ultrasonic transducer device for capturing radiographic and biometric data is provided. The implantable ultrasonic transducer device includes a transducer array configured to provide ultrasonic waves to a target area and to obtain reflected ultrasonic waves from the target area; a controller electrically coupled to the transducer array and configured to provide one or more control signals to the transducer array to control one or more modes of operation of the transducer array; and an antenna electrically coupled to the controller and configured to wireless transmit and receive data from an external device, wherein the transducer array, the controller, and the antenna are completely contained within a body cavity of a patient and an activation surface of the transducer array is positioned in physical contact with a portion of a treatment area of the patient with no air gap between the activation surface and the treatment area.

  • Publication number: 20200001121
Abstract: An embodiment in accordance with the present invention provides a transducer design for minimally invasive focused ultrasound (MIFU). The present invention allows flexible control of a focused ultrasound wave using mechanical and electrical control. The transducer array is implemented on a flexible substrate that can be mechanically controlled through two or more physical configurations. As with conventional electronic “steering,” the transducer elements can be controlled electronically to provide adjustable focus of the ultrasound. The combination of mechanical and electronic control provides the device a very flexible method for delivering focused ultrasound. The invention also includes a design that allows integration of ultrasound and endoscopic image guidance. The ultrasound guidance includes anatomical visualization and functional imaging (e.g. blood flow and coagulation of vasculature). The ultrasound imaging transducer is used for thermometry within the region of interest for treatment.
