  • Patent number: 8386072
Abstract: A filler product supply system (5) and method using two or more conduits (120, 130) to deliver filler product under pressure from product reservoirs (200, 210) to in fluid isolation to a supply manifold (58). Filler product is further delivered in fluid isolation from supply manifold (58) through conduits (170, 171) to two or more filling heads (180, 190). Downstream from filling heads (180, 190), the previously isolated fluid lines are combined to introduce two or more distinct filler products into a single container without creating a homogenous mixture.

  • Publication number: 20120325753
Abstract: A disc filter having a controller for controlling or minimizing effluent surges is provided. The disc filter is operative to carry out a method or process for controlling the flow of effluent produced by the disc filter. The basic method entails sensing one or more process variables that are a function of the effluent, and based at least in part on the sensed process variables, the disc filter controls the flow of the effluent by implementing various control functions such as: 1) rotating the rotary filter discs of the disc filter one revolution or less without backwashing; 2) rotating the rotary filter discs more than one revolution at a relatively slow speed without backwashing; 3) rotating the rotary filter discs for one revolution or more at a relatively slow speed while backwashing; 4) rotating the rotary filter discs at a relatively high speed with or without backwashing; and 5) rotating the filter discs one revolution or more and periodically backwashing.

  • Publication number: 20120291572
Abstract: The present invention utilizes a series of uniquely timed gears and flywheel(s) to convert a linear motion into a rotary motion or a rotary motion into a linear motion. The movement of the drive component (linear or rotary) results in an exact mathematical movement of the driven component (rotary or linear), divided by or multiplied by its gear ratio and can be measured at any point of the stroke or angle of rotation. The present invention achieves and maintains the mathematically and mechanically optimum 90 degree relationship between the linear and rotary components through the entire linear stroke and rotary motion, thereby eliminating the inefficient geometric constraints of a variable vector, crankshaft based motion conversion mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8098155
Abstract: A method for locating a target wireless device is disclosed. At least one directional antenna is swept through a field of view at each of a plurality of sensing locations. A position is determined for each of the plurality of sensing locations. During the sweep at each of the plurality of sensing locations, a set of signal strength data for the target wireless device and a set of bearing information are collected. A plurality of lines of bearing are determined, one from each of the plurality of sensing locations to the target wireless device, based on the determined position, the collected set of signal strength data, and bearing information for each of the plurality of sensing locations. A target location of the target wireless device is determined based on an intersection of at least two lines of bearing from the plurality of lines of bearing.

  • Patent number: 8076577
Abstract: This invention pertains to an adjustable cover for an electrical outlet box. The cover is configured having a generally planar mounting plate with a collar surrounding an opening through this mounting plate. An extension sleeve moves within this opening and adjacent the collar. At least one fastener is located adjacent the opening and is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The fastener operates a locking device that engages wedges against the extension sleeve when the fastener is in the locked position and disengages wedges against the extension sleeve when the fastener is in the unlocked position.

  • Publication number: 20110139668
Abstract: The invention relates to protective devices for use in packaging and seeks to improve on known padded packaging and those employing deformable members such as plastics beads. The object of the invention is to provide packaging employing deformable members that can be manufactured employing conventional machinery. The object is met by a construction comprising a number of cushions of non-porous plastics material containing resiliently deformable members and connected together to enable an item to be protected to be embraced between the cushions, the connection between the cushions allowing movement of air between the cushions, and a valve in the outer face of one of the cushions, to enable air to be extracted from the cushions when an item is embraced between them and cause the resiliently deformable members to form into a rigid state.

  • Patent number: 7758537
Abstract: The present invention provides systems, apparatus and methods for removing the outer layer, or stratum corneum, of a patient's skin. In one aspect of the invention, a method includes positioning an active electrode adjacent to or near a target site on a patient's outer skin, and applying a sufficient high frequency voltage to the active electrode to remove the stratum corneum without removing the entire epidermis layer. In this manner, the present invention removes dead and/or damaged skin cells on the surface of the skin which improves the overall appearance of the skin. In addition, this process helps to stimulate the bodies own rejuvenation process. In some embodiments, this rejuvenation process occurs by the actual removal of the stratum corneum, which accelerates the regrowth of new cell layers in the skin. In other embodiments, thermal energy is applied to the underlying epidermis and/or dermis to stimulate the growth of new collagen.
