Abstract: A system and method for facilitating weight control provides dieters with the ability to maintain food consumption within the general rules of a weight control program and to maintain motivation in following these rules, incorporates a hand-held computing device to facilitate use of the system, provides the ability to update at least some information on either a server portion of the system or the hand-held computing device and then to synchronize the pertinent information therebetween at a later time, does not rely solely upon costly and often unreliable wireless communications, is not cumbersome to use, and is conducive to keeping information up-to-date.
