Patent number: 6095162Abstract: The apparatus includes an elongated wash tank and an elongated rinse tank each having a plurality of conduits disposed adjacent to the bottom thereof. Conduits in the washing tank are connected to a Wye. One inlet branch of the Wye is supplied with air at a pressure of at least 15 psi and the second inlet branch of the Wye is connected to a recirculating pump having an output of at least 30 psi. A mixture of pressurized air and water is discharged from apertures in the elongated conduits and forms vortices in a bath of water held in the tank. Window blinds are suspended in the tank in contact with the vortices. The elongated conduits in the rinse tank are supplied with air at a pressure of greater than 15 psi. Air is discharged from the elongated conduits in the rinse tank through vertically directed openings. After the blinds are washed in the wash tank they are inserted in the rinse tank and thereafter removed and air dried.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1998Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: Norwood Dry Cleaning UnlimitedInventors: Gale W. Miller, James P. Rogers, Michael A. Brooks

Patent number: 6000571Abstract: A new trash receptacle for permitting easy removal therefrom of a filled trash bag. The inventive device includes outer and inner portions each having a base and a side wall. The inner and outer portions are spaced apart to define an air space therebetween. The inner base of the inner portion has a plurality of apertures therethrough into the air space between the inner and outer bases to permit air flow from the air space into the interior space of the trash receptacle to help relieve the vacuum formed when a trash bag is removed from the interior space.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1998Date of Patent: December 14, 1999Inventors: Michael A. Brooks, Mark Childers

Patent number: 5101825Abstract: Described here are a novel means and device for noninvasively quantifying important blood constituents. Total hemoglobin, arterial oxygen content, hematocrit, and other parameters can all be determined quickly and easily without the need for skin puncture or lengthy laboratory analysis. The invention described here concerns the simultaneous measurement of volume changes and changes in the mass of either oxyhemoglobin, total hemoglobin, or reduced hemoglobin. The data obtained by these measurements is used to quantify the parameters of interest.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1989Date of Patent: April 7, 1992Assignee: BlackBox, Inc.Inventors: Dietrich Gravenstein, J.
