  • Publication number: 20050235620
Abstract: A filter includes a filter element mounted to a base and having first and second end caps spaced axially along an axis. Fluid to be filtered flows laterally through the filter element and axially through a hollow interior and through an axial flow opening of the second end cap. The filter element is mounted to the base solely by the second end cap in rotational relationship independently of the first end cap, eliminating the third component traditionally needed for mounting a housing cover to the base and enclosing and/or sealing and/or retaining the filter element in the housing.

  • Publication number: 20050100185
Abstract: A personal communications earpiece (10, 10a, 10b) for use with a personal communications device such as a telephone (50). The personal communications earpiece (10, 10a, 10b) has an ear hook (12) for placing over an ear (60) of the user. An ear bud (14, 14a) containing a speaker (27) is both physically and electrically connected to the ear hook (12) by a flexible connector (16). A front portion (22) of the ear hook (12) extends generally downward in front of the ear (60). In one embodiment, the ear bud (14) has an in ear portion (28) with a plurality of grooves (30) therein for assisting in preventing the ear bud (14) from completely blocking or occluding the ear canal of the user.

  • Publication number: 20050034320
Abstract: The drywall measuring tape is a tape measure extendably contained within a housing, including a laser light source, such as a laser diode, located on each side of the housing. Each laser light source projects a focused light beam perpendicular to the extended tape measure, and in a plane parallel to the housing base. Thus, when the tape measure is extended across a wall with the housing base flush against the wall, one of the laser light sources projects a reference spot onto the ceiling, while the other projects onto the floor. This allows a measurement to be taken horizontally across a wall in reference to a point on the ceiling or floor. Additionally, the drywall measuring tape includes a T-square bracket on the housing base, disposed so that the drywall measuring tape can be quickly aligned with a surface edge for measurement perpendicular to the surface edge.

Each vertical support member includes a biasing member urging the planar member upward away from the base with a total biasing force applied to the planar member being selected based on property of materials to be supported on the planar surface so that a position of an upper surface of the supported materials remains substantially constant as a quantity of materials supported on the planar surface is changed.

  • Patent number: 6588624
Abstract: A damping mechanism for use with a housing having a body and a cover pivotably attached to the body, the cover being movable between an open position and a closed position. The damping mechanism includes a body engagement surface located on the body and a cover engagement surface located on the cover. One of the body engagement surface or the cover engagement surface includes a generally planar damping pad and the other of the body engagement surface or the cover engagement surface includes a cam having a generally curved cam surface. The cam surface is shaped and positioned to engage the damping pad such that the damping pad and the cam cooperate to damp the movement of the cover when the cover pivots between the open and closed positions.
