Publication number: 20230352873Abstract: A galvanic corrosion-proof underwater electrical interconnect comprising a plug assembly and a receptacle assembly. The plug assembly comprising a plug insert body having conductive terminals mounted within a plug shell, a coupling nut, a waterproof cable having wires connected to the conductive terminals, and a rubber overmold formed around a portion of the plug shell and cable forming a water-tight seal therebetween. The receptacle assembly comprises a first metal tubular member having a threaded portion to threadedly engage the coupling nut, a second metal tubular member separated from the first tubular member by a non-metallic outer body positioned around and between the tubular members, a receptacle insert having conductive terminals adapted to contact the plug conductive terminals. The plug shell, coupling nut and first metal tubular member are made of metal alloys having the same galvanic potential.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2023Publication date: November 2, 2023Applicant: RAMPART PRODUCTS LLCInventors: EDWARD J. Patent number: 11588264Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a plug arranged and designed to connect to a receptacle. The plug includes an electrically-insulating body, a conductor ring, and a conductive member connected to the plug conductor ring. The receptacle includes an electrically-insulating body, a conductor ring having an axial inner bore and an annular groove facing radially inward, a conductive member connected to the receptacle conductor ring, and an electrically-conductive contact having a generally annular profile, at least a portion of the electrically-conductive contact received in and contacting the annular groove and at least a portion of the electrically-conductive contact not received in the annular groove. Upon insertion of the plug into the receptacle and substantially radially aligning the plug and receptacle conductor rings, the electrically-conductive contact is elastically deformed and provides electrical contact between the plug conductor ring and the receptacle conductor ring.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2021Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: RAMPART PRODUCTS LLCInventors: Sean W. Carter, Michael A. Czuppon, Edward J. Beshoory
