The materials include at least one physical UVR attenuator, having an average particle size below 1000 nanometers, and at least one flexible, film-forming polymeric binder for bonding the material to a fabric surface, wherein the physical UVR attenuator is dispersed within said binder to form an aqueous dispersion. Also disclosed are materials including both physical and chemical UVR attenuators, in which a synergistic protection effect is achieved.
