  • Patent number: 5086495
Abstract: A solid modelling system for generating a spatial representation of an object defined by a structure having a plurality of linked nodes representing the object in terms of solid geometric primitives combined by a logical expression, which is adapted to recognize redundant primitives automatically. Bitmap generation logic (BGL) is provided for traversing at least certain of the nodes in the structure for generating a bitmap representing the part of the logical expression defined in the traversed nodes and redundant primitive logic (RPL) is provided for testing the bitmap for logical redundancies indicative of redundant geometric primitives. Each bit in the bitmap is representative of a respective one of the constituents of the primitives, a constituent being the volume formed by the intersection of primitives or their complements, and, in order to test for the redundancy of a primitive u, the RPL tests for equivalence of the corresponding utrue and ufalse constituents in the bitmap.

  • Patent number: 4578761
Abstract: A methodology for decomposing a three-wire equivalent circuit into a cascade arrangement of a two-wire transmission line and a three-port terminating network is disclosed. Decomposition synthesis is accomplished by iteratively separating the equivalent circuit into the two component parts according to a predetermined algorithm and then comparing the derived three-port network to each network within a class requiring identification, thereby effecting an identification whenever a match occurs. Upon a matched condition, the resistance of the transmission line corresponds to the distance to the terminating network and may be used for fault diagnosis purposes.

  • Patent number: 4501935
Abstract: A methodology for identifying a telephone receiver-off-hook (ROH) condition within the class of resistive faults occurring on a subscriber line is disclosed. The method utilizes the nonlinear DC characteristic exhibited by an off-hook handset. First and second DC resistances are measured in response to first and second DC sources applied at a test point associated with the line. A resistance differential between the two resistances is compared to a resistance range. A ROH condition is indicated if the differential falls within the range.
